WHS Specialist, Workplace Health and Safety

The WHSS is required to maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics to report to onsite management teams and corporate based reporting systems. The WHSS supports management's efforts to ensure compliance with all corporate Safety Program expectations and applicable federal & state laws. The WHSS also conducts risk assessments related to jobs performed (Job Hazard Analysis) and new equipment introductions. In addition, the WHSS is responsible for recommending appropriate risk mitigation measures to management, including ergonomics.
Key job responsibilities
- Identify and inform management of compliance issues, risks, and improvement opportunities through the conduct of daily, weekly, and monthly audits
- Facilitate incident investigation process
- Maintain required paperwork to comply with Amazon and regulations
- Enter Incident Information in internal database in a timely manner
- Perform observations & audits
- Train and assist others (Area Managers, team members, etc.) to complete their responsibilities (Audits, Follow Rules, etc.)
- Perform specific training as required by the Manager
- May have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, or other related activities depending on the business unit and location
- Participate in process improvement activities and manage actions to completion
A day in the life
You will fulfill the assigned tasks within this standard work as allocated by the Site WHS Manager, including additional tasks as stretch assignment. You must adhere to the scheduled shift in order to support site safety. Notes: Standard work: essential routine and non-routine tasks for each role, tactical or strategic in nature. Additional tasks not captured in this standard work may arise from business needs.
About the team
WHS Manager, Safety Specialist and Onsite medical representatives.
- 2+ years of workplace health & safety (WHS) related field experience
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- +1 YOE maintaining confidentiality in matters involving security or personnel issues in the workplace
- +1 YOE using Microsoft Word in a professional capacity
- STPS regulation, IMSS following and other governmental dependences in MX
- Experience in emergency response
- Experience in worker's compensation case management
