At MezTal, we are looking for an
AP Accountant
who can
own the accounts payable process end to end
, apply accounting judgment, and actively participate in invoice review, follow-up, and capital-related accounting activities.


This is not a transactional AP role.


Accuracy, ownership, and follow-through are more important than volume.

What You Will Do

Accounts Payable Ownership

  • Own the AP process from invoice receipt through payment.
  • Review and validate invoices for accuracy, completeness, and proper approval.
  • Follow up with internal stakeholders to resolve missing documentation or approvals.
  • Process invoices using AP systems and accounting platforms.
  • Support weekly payment runs (ACH, wires, checks).
  • Reconcile AP balances and support accruals.

Accounting & Review Responsibilities

  • Apply judgment when reviewing invoices, rather than simply posting transactions.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close activities.
  • Assist with account reconciliations and basic financial analysis.
  • Participate in internal controls and audit support activities.

Capital & Project-Related Exposure

  • Review invoices related to capital improvements and projects.
  • Validate supporting documentation and approvals.
  • Assist in determining whether costs should be expensed or capitalized.
  • Track project-related activity and support budget monitoring.

You do not need deep CAPEX experience, but you must be comfortable reviewing, questioning, and learning capital-related transactions.

  • AP clerks or junior AP profiles with limited accounting exposure.
  • Professionals who prefer strictly task-based work without ownership or analysis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience
    in Accounts Payable
  • 3+ years of experience
    in Accounting roles.
  • Strong attention to detail and sense of ownership.
  • Ability to apply accounting logic and ask the right questions.
  • Advanced English proficiency is required, as the role involves daily interaction with U.S.-based managers and team.
  • Availability to work in a hybrid manner at our offices in Guadalajara, Mexico at Midtown Jalisco.
