The Import/Export Supervisor oversees daily cross-border operations and supervises Import/Export Agents to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely processing of international shipments. This role is responsible for maintaining compliance with customs regulations, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and driving operational efficiency while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational SupervisionSupervise daily activities of Import/Export Agents, ensuring accurate and timely processing of international shipments and customs documentation.
Monitor workflow, assign tasks, and balance workload to meet service level expectations.
Provide guidance, coaching, and on-the-job training to team members to maintain high performance and quality standards.
Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), foreign government import/export regulations, and internal company procedures.
Review commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and related documentation for accuracy and regulatory completeness.
Maintain accurate records and reporting to support regulatory requirements, customer needs, and internal or external audits.
Coordinate with carriers, customs brokers, and governmental agencies to expedite clearance and resolve documentation or compliance discrepancies.
Partner with internal departments including Operations, Sales, Compliance, and Carrier Management to ensure shipments meet service and compliance requirements.
Support the Manager with audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives related to import/export processes.
Identify process gaps, propose solutions, and support system or process enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
2–4 years of experience in import/export operations, customs brokerage, or international logistics.
Prior team lead or supervisory experience preferred.
Strong understanding of USMCA rules, customs clearance processes, INCOTERMS, and cross-border freight procedures (U.S.–Mexico preferred).
Experience working with customs documentation, carrier portals, and compliance systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and transportation/customs systems.
Bilingual English/Spanish required due to cross-border operations and regulatory interaction.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and compliance-driven mindset.
