Job Description

The Senior Accounting Analyst ensures timely and accurate recording and reporting of financial information for both internal and external users and is responsible for directed projects to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Cielo Accounting processes. As an important member of the Accounting team, this position is expected to interact and work closely with other members of the global finance and accounting organization and to develop consistent, scalable and sustainable processes that meet the needs of our fast-growing organization.

  • Work Location: Mexico
  • Work Arrangement: Remote
  • Specific requirements: Deep expertise in billing and accounting processes for Mexico, including compliance with local tax regulations and reporting standards
  • Language Required: Proficiency in English

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the accurate and timely completion of the month-end close process, including preparation of significant or complex journal entries, review of variances with budget, forecast and prior periods and response to questions from internal customers.
  • Prepare assigned monthly general ledger account reconciliations timely, accurately and ensure any unreconciled items are cleared.
  • Serve as the administrator of NetSuite ERP as it relates to the accounting function, including set-up of GL accounts, closing monthly periods and ensuring timely cut-offs.
  • Assist the Corporate Controller on strategic initiatives, such as business combinations, global integration and complex accounting or process integration matters.
  • Research technical accounting topics such as new U.S. GAAP / IFRS accounting pronouncements, revenue recognition, lease accounting and other identified topics, prepare position papers, summarize actions to department leadership and lead execution of compliance with requirements.

  • Assist in the global Cielo internal control process for order to cash, record to report and procure to pay processes, including the identifying, testing and maintaining effective Sarbanes Oxley compliant control environment with timely remediation of deficiencies.

  • Support the annual consolidated financial statement audit, as well as required statutory audits, ensuring completion by required submission deadlines

  • Perform analysis of assigned account balances on a monthly basis (actual vs. budget/forecast or prior period), review results with management and respond to questions as required.
  • Analyze and interpret financial data to recommend changes to improve systems and financial performance, including opportunities for efficiencies.
  • Support management in completing special projects and other assignments as required.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Experience with Oracle NetSuite is preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
  • CPA preferred
