Passion for startups, technology & learning.
- 10+ years of overall experience leading and growing teams of senior technology professionals, ideally in customer facing roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar field.
- Working knowledge of cutting-edge software development tools and methodologies.
- Experience working with startups and technical founders and entrepreneurs.
- Fluent written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese and English.
- Open to some travel (up to 25%).

Would you like to lead a team focused on increasing adoption of AWS cloud within the startup ecosystem in Mexico? Do you have the business acumen and the technical background necessary to help startups around the world?

Startups are the large enterprises of the future. These young companies are founded by ambitious people who have a desire to build something meaningful and to challenge the status quo. To address underserved customers, or to challenge incumbents. They usually operate in an environment of scarcity: whether that’s capital, engineering resource, or experience. This is where you and your team come in.

We are looking for technical builders who love the idea of working with early stage startups to help them as they grow. In this role, you’ll manage a team of Solutions Architects that work directly with a variety of customers and help them make the best (and sometimes the most pragmatic) technical decisions along the way.

As well as spending time working directly with customers, you’ll also get plenty of time to “sharpen the saw” and keep your skills fresh. We have more than 175 services across a range of different categories and it’s important that we can help startups take advantages of the right ones.

You and your team will also play an important role as advocates with our product teams to make sure we are building the right products for the startups you work with.

About Us

The AWS Startup Solutions Architecture team is dedicated to working with these early stage startup companies as they build their businesses. We’re here to make sure that they can deploy the best, most scalable, and most secure architectures possible - and that they spend as little time and money as possible doing so.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Hire, on-board, train, and develop new Solution Architects from internal and external sources.
- Build and coach the team on the skills needed to conduct one-to-few and one-to-many training sessions so they can transfer deep technical skills to customers who are considering or using AWS.
- Educate startup customers on the value proposition of AWS, and participate in architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud.
- Guide and motivate the development of white-papers, data sheets, and other high-value customer facing guidance and best practices to influence early stage startup.
- This is a regional role; expect moderate travel.
- Act as a conduit and liaison between customers, service engineering teams and support.

- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Hands-on experience with AWS.
- Experience in the startup community (e.g. founder, mentor, early technical employee).
- Deep knowledge of modern architectures, including serverless/containerized.
- AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional certification.
- Experience presenting to medium sized audiences (e.g. 200-300).
- A passion for learning and for helping others to learn.
