Sr. Data Analyst

We are growing our world-class team of mission-driven risk managers who are passionate about broadening financial inclusion by untapping insights from alternative data. Be part of the team responsible for developing and running Oportun’s marketing optimization platform that leverage Oportun’s core intellectual property for scoring risk for underserved consumers that often lack a traditional credit score or are mis-scored by traditional credit bureaus. In this role you will be working with large and diverse alternative data sets and machine learning to execute multi-product and multi-channel marketing programs. You will also drive growth and optimize marketing spend across multiple products and channels by leveraging alternative data to help predict which consumers would likely be interested in one of Oportun’s affordable, credit building lending products.

**Responsibilities**:

- Work with our Capital Markets team to design and build data solutions for analytics and business data users
- Conduct data analysis, identify data fields, and maintain mapping documents
- Defining data validation rules, and documenting data correction procedures
- Develop a strong contextual knowledge of the data in use to provide accurate and effective data solutions
- Create and review technical and user-focused documentation for data solutions (data models, data dictionaries, data mapping, business glossaries, process and data flows, architecture diagrams, user guides, etc.)
- Design and execute strategies for real-time data analysis and decisioning
- Actively promote and enhance best practices, standards, and audits to certify and preserve high-quality data that is fit for purpose
Own, troubleshoot and resolve incidents, including escalating and managing problems with vendors
- Engage with cross-functional teams to deeply understand requirements, insights, and needs
- Be open and willing to learn new skills

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science/data processing or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience with data analysis using multiple data sources
- Experience with data analytics and preparing data for analytics data users
- Experience with data transformation tools
- Expert in SQL, data reconciliation across data sources, and reports validation
- Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality results
- Ability to work in an Agile environment (Scrum, Lean, Kanban, etc)
- Outstanding communication and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, capital markets, and lending preferred
