Safeguard Global is an international payroll company specialising in global payroll outsourcing. As a Payroll Operations Team Leader you will be a key contributor to ensuring our success as a service organisation, with the key deliverables of delighting our clients, inspiring trust and confidence in Safeguard Global and providing direction and leadership to your direct reports.
You will lead, manage and coach a team of International Payroll Specialists (of varying experience) to ensure delivery of timely and accurate payroll processing activities, including timely responses, follow through and effective resolution of all client enquiries. As a first line manager, you should be able to manage both work and people management tasks in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
What will give you an advantage:
- Daily management activities to include but not limited to resource management, recruitment and holiday planning.
- Lead daily activities of the team to ensure that all work is completed according to scheduled
deadlines, with attention to quality standards, priorities and overall goals for the department
- Monitor various productivity and performance standards to ensure that established levels are achieved, especially during critical activity periods
- Accountable for the adherence of standard business processes and for ensuring utilisation of appropriate security of data procedures by team members
- Specifically responsible for ensuring the appropriate method of data validation occurs at all
times, and where applicable accountable for 2nd validation in accordance with the standard validation processes
- Achieve acceptable level of performance in relation to key performance indicators including
team quality and timeliness, people management activities, and feedback from clients and
stakeholders
- Monitor staff/client interactions utilizing the quality monitoring system and evaluate case
management to ensure that world class service is being delivered based on the Standard of
Care provided
- Utilize sound judgment to escalate issues that may require intervention of the Payroll
Operations Manager
- Analyse team statistics and prepare reports for assigned clients and senior management
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with external and internal colleagues
- Act as a first point of escalation for client enquires, ensuring follow through and resolution in
accordance with Safeguard Global’s standard of care
- Provide direct feedback to team members on performance, development and or areas of opportunities to enhance team members and client experience
- Accountable for formal line management of the team, ensuring that appropriate individual
goals are set, quarterly assessments complete, reviewed and delivered in accordance with Safeguard Global’s policy
- Accountable for the training, coaching and development of the team, working with leadership to coordinate any additional training as needed
- Recommend process improvements to line Managers/Quality Assurance and assists in the implementation of the process improvements as needed
- Serve as an acting backup to the Payroll Operations Manager, providing leadership, guidance
and direction to team members in the absence of the manager
- Any other activities as required by the business
- People management skills; ability to develop a team of people i.e. share knowledge and expertise with colleagues and customers; coaching, development, ad hoc training
- Ability to assess team members' performance and provide motivational support
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, focused on achieving results
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet agreed deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively on all levels (internally and externally) both verbally and in writing
- Demonstrable client relationship building skills
- Ability to recognize basic procedural issues as and when they arise and escalate to the appropriate level
- Strong computing skills and proficient in Microsoft Office
- Secondary language skills an advantage
