This position is responsible for leading the process engineering team at the plant, with responsibility for all processes and programs in regular production and new launches. Ensure optimal process parameters, cycle time, waste reduction, and necessary actions to achieve the plant's KPIs and objectives. Essential **Responsibilities**: - Coordinate the engineering team to meet KPI objectives. - Assist with process-related issues in engineering. - Lead program launch activities to ensure new products are delivered on time, meet project milestones, and stay within budget. - Manage engineering changes on time. - Manage capital and projects related to the area of responsibility, including justifications and capital requests. - Define the engineering department's budgetary expenses and maintain control. - Responsible for validating and approving all equipment before startup. - Conduct layered process audits and safety network audits as required and ensure compliance by the engineering team. - Attend the daily operations meeting, reporting on engineering highlights. - Coordinate daily follow-up meetings with the engineering team to monitor all major engineering activities/actions. - Attend cross-functional meetings as needed. - Ensure compliance with all IATF-16949, ISO-14001, and related plant audits (internal and external). - Develop and maintain updated procedures related to the area of responsibility. - Analyze plant capacity and monitor the process to maintain optimal production targets. - Lead the team in using tools like 5WHY's and PDCA to define the root cause of problems. - Ensure all PPAP and process documentation is up to date and on time, including the training of the operational team. - Effectively communicate with all levels of the organization to ensure timely resolution of issues. - Adhere to environmental and climate change policy compliance. - Identify, control, and minimize significant environmental aspects in each internal operation. - Seek improvements in operational conditions to reduce environmental impact. - Seek product improvements from raw material acquisition. - Ensure process designs include equipment/machines with higher energy efficiency, reducing raw material and/or natural resource transfer losses. - Other duties as assigned. Education / Experience / Skills - Bachelor’s degree in engineering required. - A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience coordinating engineering teams in the automotive industry is required. - Project management experience is desirable. - Experience in lean manufacturing is desirable. - Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus. Verbal Skills - Fluent in English: written and spoken. - Must be able to effectively communicate with customers and cross-company staff. - Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. - Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, and customers. Mathematical Skills - Mathematical skills for efficiency calculations, consumption, turnover times, capacity, cycle times, etc. - Mathematical skills for problem-solving and information analysis. Reasoning Ability - Expert in deductive reasoning. - This position requires the ability to organize thoughts and priorities under considerable pressure. - Must be able to reason and solve problems based on technical understanding of needs and procedures. - Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions. - Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions and deal with both abstract and concrete variables. Computer Skills - Proficient in Microsoft Office software. - MS Project. - Auto-CAD is desirable. - Minitab is an advantage. Physical Requirements - Occasional long periods of sitting will be required to review documents in front of the monitor. - Perform floor process tasks as needed. Level of Authority - Stop processes when detecting an unsafe act or condition. - Stop processes when detecting a quality issue. - Stop processes when not following standards. - Stop processes when internal standards are "not met," endangering shipments, quality, or required product specifications. - Stop processes when detecting undocumented deviations from processes.
