Job Description

Responsibilities:

- Primary role will be to support new product development doing the following:

- Oversee and perform the design and development of packaging solutions that effectively balance product protection, package integrity and sustainability.
- Work closely with purchasing, packaging suppliers and product manufacturers to ensure packaging designs are aligned with manufacturing processes and optimized for cost.
- Interact in a team environment with engineering, manufacturing, quality and program management personnel.
- Oversee and manage complete packaging development process, including design, prototype development, and performance testing.
- Execute or oversee the generation of drawings and specifications for new packaging designs.
- Support continuous improvement activities including redesigning, testing and implementing packaging for existing products with emphasis on cost optimization.
- Contribute to the investigation and implementation of packaging development processes and to the creation and maintenance of any accompanying management tools.
- Contribute to the development of operating procedures, standardized practices, material specifications and validation test methods.

Must have the following skills, knowledge and abilities:

- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects and timelines effectively
- Skilled in concept visualization, in structure development, and in prototyping to devise, evaluate and present creative packaging design solutions
- Knowledge of packaging materials and processes, fabrication techniques, printing processes, global shipping practices and environmental regulations.

Additional Preferred Competencies:

- Familiarity with the electronic product and automotive component packaging
- Experience in developing protective packaging and conducting testing to validate packaging design performance
- Experience with the packaging industry and understanding of how to work with suppliers
