Job Description
The Vericast Cloud Services/DevOps team is seeking a highly skilled Engineer to help automate, monitor, support, and enhance the OpenStack on-prem cloud infrastructure as well as implement best-practices solutions leveraging configuration management tools. This role will also support the legacy environment (J2EE; WebSphere) cross-functionally with engineering, product, and IT stakeholders in an Agile framework. KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with team members on the DevOps team to design and implement cloud solutions that are automated, secure, scalable, and highly available 30%
- Provision of critical system security by leveraging best practices and cloud security solutions 10%
- Troubleshoot failed builds and deployments 5%
- Take part in all Agile ceremonies 10%
- Evaluation of new technology alternatives and vendor products 5%
Qualifications
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
EXPERIENCE
- 5+ Years with Bachelor’s degree or 11+ years’ work experience
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Solid foundation of cloud computing (preferably OpenStack), networking and Linux administration.
- Strong understanding of how to secure cloud environments and meet compliance requirements.
- Issue and bug tracking and wiki documentation (JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow)
- Containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Infrastructure provisioning (at least one of Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Application monitoring (ELK stack, New Relic, Datadog, etc.)
- Can write high-quality code in a programming language (e.g. Java, Python, Ruby, Scala, Go) that addresses real-world engineering problems.
- Software Delivery Lifecycle Process optimization.
- Source code systems and Gitlab branching strategies.
- Ability to learn/use a wide variety of open-source technologies and tools
- Communicate effectively with Scrum masters, Product Managers and Application Developer Leads regarding implementation of best practices and DevOps methodologies.
