**Academic Director of Site**

**THE CORE PURPOSE**:
Monitor, evaluate and develop the curriculum, teaching and assessment practices
- across secondary and sixth form- Promote and model the school philosophy and values in order to develop and
- maintain an inclusive and collaborative school culture- Ensure the quality of teaching and learning across Secondary and Sixth Form in
- line with the school’s philosophy and vision- Develop, nurture and maintain positive relationships with families
- Actively engage in pedagogical leadership, providing example and support for

teaching and learning in Secondary and Sixth Form, in collaboration with DLT and
LT
- Lead and promote a culture of continuous improvement and high expectations for

all students and staff
- Liaise with RYLT to ensure successful transition between primary and secondary
- Collaborate with RYLT and DLT in the strategic development of the school,

consistently seeking to improve standards in all areas.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**ESTABLISHING GOALS AND EXPECTATIONS**
- Ensure the quality of the educational offer, evaluating curriculum in order to

optimise the integration of national and international programmes and
curriculums in and provide the best possible learning experience for all students.
- Prepare and deliver induction for newmembers of staff to establish expectations

in line with the Great Teaching document.
- Work in collaboration with DLT and LT to ensure the coherent and consistent

implementation of school policies and procedures
- Collaborate in the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic

development goals in Secondary and Sixth Form
- Observe classroom practice and provide feedback and follow up to ensure the

quality of teaching and learning and support teachers in becoming reflective
practitioners and leaders.
- Develop, and where appropriate adapt, the timetable and ensure that staff are

aware of their responsibilities
- Monitor student performance/development and liaise with parents as necessary

**ENSURING AN ORDERLY AND SAFE ENVIRONMENT**
Ensure that all Health, Safety, Security Policies and Procedures are understood and
- implemented consistently- Work in collaboration with the Pastoral Director of Site in the supervision and
- implementation of the Socialisation Policy to create a positive school culture- Ensure that the schools physical spaces are appropriately maintained in order to

provide a safe and secure environment for learning, through collaboration with
Coordinator of General Services
- Supervise and support the organisation of events, camps and field trips/outings

including risk assessment
** PROMOTING AND PARTICIPATING IN PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT & GROWTH**
Continue to develop knowledge and skills through active participation in up to
- date professional development opportunities- Design, annually, a clear professional development plan which supports the
- development of the secondary and sixth form team- Support the Lead Teachers and DLT in identifying and acquiring appropriate

professional development opportunities which support their growth as leaders.
- Design and prepare professional development activities which allow teachers to

develop and refine pedagogical approaches and strategies which support effective
learning.
- Propose, develop and lead research based initiatives to promote continued

improvement and raising of standards.
- Support the Headteacher in leading the recruitment process for high quality,

suitably qualified staff for secondary and sixth form
** PLANNING, COORDINATING AND EVALUATING TEACHING AND THE CURRICULUM**
Identify, implement and evaluate programmes which support the integration of
- the international and national curriculums- Collaborate with LT and DLT to develop the use of constructive teaching and
- inquiry in a secondary and sixth form setting, in order to support student progress- Collaborate with the Learning Support Services and provide guidance to ensure all
- students have access to learning- Lead the regular review and evaluation of curriculum and its implementation
- across secondary and sixth form in line with strategic development goals- Support the Secondary Director and the Sixth Form Director in developing,

implementing and evaluating tracking documents to monitor student
achievement and attainment.
- Develop a timetable which supports the needs of the curriculum

**RESOURCING STRATEGICALLY**
Contribute to the development of the school’s annual budget, ensuring

appropriate allocation of funds for Secondary and Sixth Form teachers’ CPD and
teaching and learning resources.
- Ensure that teaching staff are appropriately allocated in order to maximise

learning and progress
- Collaborate with the librarian to ensure the development and management of a

library that supports and impulses teaching and learning
- Collaborate with IT Systems and DLT to ensure that appropriate technological

resources are available in line with curriculum devel
