Who we are looking for
We are looking for a dedicated professional with experience in debt restructuring in emerging markets, sustainable finance and in microfinance in particular. The function essentially consists in identifying and managing Work Out cases, negotiating restructuring agreements on behalf of clients, analysing workout turnaround plans and strategies, coordinating and reporting on workouts management overall. It also involves supporting contractual structuring of transactions and review of legal documentation.
The position is based in New Delhi, Mexico City, Amsterdam or any other location with SymInvest office with reporting line to the Head of Risk & Recovery.
About the Job
Workout Management & Coordination
Choose, implement and re-assess the recovery strategies based on an assessment of risk, return, and uncertainties.
Manage the relationship with the Work-Out institutions and all the stakeholders involved in the Work-Out processes, with the exception of the investors.
Lead a restructuring when needed - organizing the group calls, engaging external parties, negotiating with the borrower on behalf of the lenders, preparing and executing a strategy.
Review restructuring agreements and other basic legal documents needed.
**Disseminate key events information to the Front Office**: loan restructuring information should be provided in a timely manner.
Manage the relationship with external lawyers/consultant.
Workout Operations
Coordinate the reports drafted by the Financial Institutions Unit pertaining to financial and operational performance of the Work-Out institutions.
Perform tailor-made reporting when necessary.
Coordinate and supervise the execution of the Restructuring Agreement.
Process improvements
Work to continuously improve processes in place (e.g. IT solutions to automate tasks and decrease potential for errors).
Your Qualification
We are looking for a dynamic and autonomous person, able to work in fast growing and challenging environment, as well as having attention to detail. More specifically, we have the following requirements:
Minimum 5 years of experience in the field of credit risk assessment of financial institutions, small and medium sized companies or start ups in emerging markets, or legal experience negotiating restructurings/ wind-down/ out of court settlements.
Several years of experience in debt restructuring.
Strong negotiations skill.
Financial or legal background.
Interest in and enthusiasm for impact investment.
Willingness to grow and take on additional responsibilities.
Capacity to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure.
Fluent in English, another language (Spanish or French) is a strong asset.
