**Job Description**:
Etsy is looking for a backend engineer to join our established Mobile Apps Engineering organization. You will collaborate with a dedicated team of engineers, designers, product and analytics colleagues who work together closely to support our native mobile apps. Our growing team requires someone who will thrive making technical contributions in a lively environment but loves to have fun while they do so.

This is a full-time role that can be based in Mexico City, Mexico but will also consider remote engineers based in Mexico for this position.

You'll be joining a team that focuses on building features across the entire Etsy app by collaborating with multi-functional teams and business partners across Etsy. We are a multidisciplinary team of native iOS and Android engineers, designers, and product managers. This team is in a very unique position of making an impact across various teams in Etsy.

**As a Senior Backend Engineer on Apps you will**:

- Lead the API engineering work when it comes to unexplored areas of the Etsy mobile app.
- Develop with an eye on quality and scalability by using performance monitoring tooling, automated and manual testing, and observability tools to verify the correctness and quality of your code.
- Work with Product, Design, and native mobile (iOS/Android) engineers in order to determine what is possible on the platform to surprise, delight, and engage our users.
- Effectively conduct technical discovery, break down projects into concrete pieces, and advise on timelines, dependencies, and tradeoffs.
- Work with API engineers on other teams to improve the APIs used by Etsy App.
- Guide more junior engineers in their technical and architectural decisions, using thoughtful code reviews, mentoring, and project planning discussions.
