Hull City Council has been on a journey of improvement and has become a leading provider of Children's Homes. We are committed to developing nurturing, high quality homes where children can thrive and achieve their next steps. Hull currently has 16 homes within the city.
The Childrens Homes Regulations (England) 2015 require that an independent person be appointed to visit our homes on a monthly basis. The Independent Visitor will complete a Quality of Care report that talks about how the home is managed, and focuses on the lives of the children living in the home, their journey and experiences.
They will make checks to ensure that the children are being kept safe, policies and procedures are being followed and adhered to, talk to staff and children, parents, and any professionals connected to the home ensuring that wellbeing and emotional needs are met. The Regulation 44 Visitor plays an integral role in management monitoring of the home, and helps us be sure we are offering the high standard of care that our children deserve.
The Independent Visitor is required to give an opinion as to whether children are being kept safe and are having their wellbeing promoted. It is necessary build relationships with the manager, staff and children to gauge this. The role will also involve recommendations for change and following up on actions. The written report will be prepared after the visit and then made available to the Registered Home Manager for comments before sending off to HMCI Ofsted.
We have long term homes, Edge Of Care Support Home, Disability Long term and short breaks homes, small homes across the city supporting children of different ages and needs.
There is a payment of £313.00 per visit completion, and the requirement to be independent to our Children Homes.
An Enhanced and Childrens Barring List DBS Disclosure is required prior to commencement.
Interviews are proposed to be held week commencing 30th June 2025.
