What will you do?

Our Network Engineer III supports and fixes F5’s IT network infrastructure including public cloud environments, data centers, local & wide area networks, switching, routing, firewalls, remote access monitoring & diagnostics and network communication issues. This position is an engineering and career mentorship role.

Primary Responsibilities

Engineering & Analysis: (60%)
- Deplore repeated manual work and pursue pervasive automation
- Advance the ongoing adoption of infrastructure as code (IaC) and network automation
- Implement zero-touch provisioning, desired state configuration, and build pipelines for network management
- Integrate multiple systems to implement automated workflows, configuration changes, and data updates
- Model network configuration and operational data in a platform neutral structure (e.g. JSON or YAML)
- Design and implement advanced configurations of network gear including switches, routers, firewalls
- Establish advanced automation processes to monitor and maintain systems
- Grow and promote an automation first mentality in the team
- Participate in peer review processes by reviewing procedures, changes, architectures, designs and standards
- Prepare documentation and improve team policies and procedures
- As a mentor, review engineer work product and procedures to support skill development
- Provide advanced troubleshooting as needed

Production support: (40%)
- Perform troubleshooting and triage assessment - remediating, delegating, or raising problems as needed
- Diagnose, debug, and repair automation processes and tools
- Independently address advanced operational issues
- Communicate with impacted users through-out the troubleshooting/remediation process as needed
- Lead documentation of new deployments or changes to deployments according to documentation standards
- Participate in on-call rotation
- Be the network automation domain authority in project meetings
- Proactively ensure ongoing communication with participants, customers and team members
- Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Automation coding skills, with a preference for Python and NETCONF experience
- Experience using and implementing Azure DevOps repos and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience using Ansible and Ansible Tower for network automation
- Experience with Windows and Linux OS
- Experience with DevOps and agile methods
- Network equipment vendor experience with F5, Cisco, and Palo Alto preferred
- Terraform experience preferred
- Understanding of highly available network solutions
- Understanding of the OSI networking model
- Experience configuring and diagnosing IP routing/switching technologies and protocols including TCP/IP, BGP, and OSPF in a dual-stack IPv4/6 environment.
- Experience with commercial cloud provider environments and hybrid cloud connectivity
- Ability to excel in a multifaceted environment
- Effectively communicate problems and solutions
- Understand business problems and networking solutions
- Effective time management and ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks
- Excellent English language written & verbal communications, both technical and non-technical

**Qualifications**:

- BA/BS in any computer science, or commensurate career experience required
- Current certifications in networking technology any current manufacturer of networking equipment
- 5 or more years in an IT department with a dedicated network team
- No less than 4 years in a network operations center or network team
