The Mechanical Engineer in the field of Optics will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and analyzing optical systems, including but not limited to lenses, reflectors, refractors, and shields. This role encompasses researching and designing various light distribution patterns for new and existing luminaires within the organization. The Engineer will ensure that designs align with the specifications and requirements provided by marketing and sales departments while also adhering to international standards and industry regulations in the lighting field.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- Perform mechanical design and optimization of optical systems to enhance lighting performance.
- Design complete optical systems within specified constraints and limitations.
- Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotations and ensure the timely development of new components.
- Engage in new product designs, including creating and modifying existing products to meet performance standards, requirements, and specifications.
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including 2D CAD drawings, 3D CAD models, schematics, and exploded assemblies.
- Participate in cross-departmental design improvement initiatives and contribute to group discussions.
- Provide product costing information for quotations.
- Offer support to other departments for optical designs.
- Prepare and present technical presentations on ongoing projects, ensuring clear and descriptive information.

Experiência y requisitos
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautics, Aerospace, Physics, or any related science or engineering discipline.
- 3-5 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, with a preference for experience in optics design.
- o No experience needs evaluation exam.
- Strong proficiency in both English (fluent) and Spanish communication skills.
- Expertise in CAD design, mainly using SolidWorks, Solidworks Certification is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of optical material properties is a plus.
- Experience with mid-level plastic injection molding processes and tools.
- A plus Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on optical systems.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively across departments.
- Ability to efficiently develop optical designs and solutions under pressure.
- Demonstrate fluency in English, both written and spoken.
