Who will you be working with?
The quality manager must work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and operations to ensure product quality.
How will you make a difference?
As a member of the Wabtec Apodaca, you will be responsible for maintaining the quality of each product as well as the KPIs.
What do we want to know about you?
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Operations, Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in manufacturing
- Fluent in English
- Strong customer focus, able to relay and operationalize a genuine sense of urgency
- Ability to influence others and lead cross-functional teams
- Experience in a Quality, Manufacturing, or Engineering role, with increasing responsibility
- Demonstrated hands-on technical problem-solving experience
- Demonstrated experience in driving change throughout the organization
- Team building and Management; strong communication abilities
- Strong background in leading initiatives and implementing principles into quality processes
- Experience working within an ISO 9001 organization
- Analytical and reasoning ability for problem solving strategic planning and creativity/innovation
- Excellent judgement ability for complex decisions
- Capable of planning and organizing work and processes, ability to direct multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of ISO/AAR standards, quality procedures, and audit techniques; certified auditor
- Experience with Reliance, eServices, i360, and other Wabtec supply chain quality and operational data sources
- Experience of working closely with Engineering, manufacturing and operations
What will your typical day look like?
- Responsible for leading the activities and tasks needed to maintain a desired level of excellence for the quality of products and processes in production to ensure customer satisfaction
- Provide leadership as the main quality interface with Manufacturing, Engineering, Services, and other functions
- Analyze and report on issues affecting product quality (such as business situations, production process capabilities, manufacturing problems, and design and development of new products) to the leadership team and Wabtec group.
- Define, monitor, and improve quality metrics (Mfg DPU, Mfg Losses, NCMRs, PPAPs, Zero Km PPM, Zero Km NCR, Warranty NCR, CARs, Audits, Gage Calibration, etc.). Ensure the reliability of quality data reported to the leadership team and through the Wabtec database.
- Lead self-audit, compliance and management efforts to ensure the organization’s continued or future registration with key industry quality organizations such as ISO and AAR, and ensure compliance to Wabtec’s Quality Management System procedures.
- Lead root cause investigations of quality issues and containments of quality escapes; keep all stakeholders informed on progress and resolution. Represent the “voice of the customer” when solving externally-identified problems with product quality.
- Collaborate with Quality team to develop projects to align with the strategic vision of the facility and support key performance indicators.
- Conduct management meetings with product quality assurance leaders to establish, delineate, and review program organizational policies, to coordinate functions and operations between departments, and to establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives.
- Review technical problems and procedures of departments and recommend solutions to problems or changes in procedures; confer with engineers about quality assurance of new products designed and manufactured products on market to rectify problems.
- Lead quality culture improvement
- Lead Manufacturing PPAPs for significant process changes
- This individual will be required to manage direct reports which could include quality engineers, quality technicians, and support staff. They will be required to carry out supervisory responsibilities typical of a managerial role which could include:
- Recruitment activities such as interviewing and hiring upon validation of open position
- Planning, assigning, and directing work for the direct reports
- Clearly defining and communicating roles, responsibilities, and goals for each employee on the team
- Measuring and monitoring performance and addressing performance issues appropriately
- Developing team members skills to enhance contribution to the organization and preparing them for advancement
