Product Definition Lead Engineer

**Job Description Summary**: Activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions and systems. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Judgment may be required.

**Roles and Responsibilities**
- Create definitions of parts, modules, and assemblies in the form of 2D cross sections, 3D models, tolerance stack-ups, and various electronic data formats to support analysis, manufacturing, assembly, tooling, and inspection.
- Create CAD models and drawings using NX. Check, validate, and issue master models and drawings.
- Execute with minor guidance Design engineering proposal for brackets, tubes, ducts, harnesses, etc and integration of external aircraft engine hardware, components and assemblies.
- Experience and knowledge in the following common manufacturing processes: Bending, Laser Cutting, Water Jet Cutting, Machining.
- Experience in methods of part inspection.
- Work within the guidelines of applicable GE Policies and Procedures, Engineering Standards, Design Customer Operating Procedures, Specifications, Government and Commercial Standards, and special security requirements.
- Understanding of Design Change Documentation and requirements and execution of changes
- Utilize LEAN tools to improve current business products and processes. Document success of Six Sigma projects via Green Belt reports and/or presentations.
- Document technical data generated to substantiate the assigned components, assemblies and systems consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
- Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments.
- Deliver status and results in technical and program reviews.
- Define dimensional constraints and geometric tolerances required for proper clearances and fits while maximizing manufacturing capabilities
- Capable of performing Stack-ups
- Manage Concurrent Engineering processes and understand input from the different engineering disciplines.
- Support project-planning schedules, including resources, needs, funding, and product definition releases. Concurrently work on multiple projects, monitoring progress and quality, and ensuring schedule requirements are met.
- Identify product improvements
- Check detail drawings and models
- Ensure that interface characteristics between components are established and agreed upon by Designers of mating parts.
- Be up to date and be a recognized leader in own technical specialty
- Provide Technical Support to cross-functional teams to improve or resolve form and fit of components.
- Effectively communicate and provide recommendations to internal and external GE customers through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data.
- Provide technical guidance to other personnel and assigned teams, mentor others in the organization.
- Engage with manufacturing to perform producibility reviews
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to incorporate concepts to meet design intent and defend design proposals.

**Required Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical and/or aeronautical Engineering or related field plus 10 years min of experience in related field.
- Solid contribution in a similar role or previous position
- Must be able to maintain a normal day-to-day fluid conversation in English on any topic with few mistakes (mistakes that do not affect clear understanding). Must have fluency, rhythm, and sufficient self-confidence in the language to be able to handle meetings and conversations.
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerance (ASME Y14.5M, or applicable) relative to the function.
- Presentation Skills: Ability to communicate with Senior Leadership.
