Job Description

Assisting in the design and implementation of manufacturing processes and procedures. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize manufacturing workflows and improve production efficiency. Conducting time and motion studies to identify bottlenecks and propose solutions for process improvement. Assisting in the development and documentation of manufacturing work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Participating in the analysis of production data and metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement. Assisting in the evaluation and implementation of new manufacturing technologies and equipment. Supporting the troubleshooting and resolution of production issues to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operations. Assisting in the implementation of quality control measures and conducting quality inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and standards. Participating in continuous improvement initiatives, such as lean manufacturing projects and Six Sigma activities. Assisting in the coordination of production schedules and material requirements to meet production targets and customer demands. Collaborating with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and components. Contributing to cost reduction initiatives by identifying opportunities for waste reduction and process optimization. Assisting in the implementation of safety protocols and ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations. Collaborating with the engineering team to support new product introductions and the scaling up of manufacturing processes. Documenting and reporting project progress, findings, and recommendations to the manufacturing engineering team.

Qualifications

Active student. Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering.

 Have universtity insurance

Technical skills: Proficiency in CAD software (such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD) for creating and modifying engineering drawings. Familiarity with manufacturing software tools, such as ERP systems or process simulation software, is a plus. Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and principles, including machining, assembly, and quality control.

Analytical skills: Ability to analyze data and use statistical methods to identify trends and make informed decisions. Knowledge of tools such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or process improvement methodologies is beneficial.

Problem-solving abilities: Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to identify root causes of issues and propose effective solutions. Ability to work independently and take initiative when faced with challenges.

Communication and teamwork: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, document procedures, and present findings. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to group projects.

Time management and organizational skills: Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential.

Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, manufacturing processes, and industry trends. Flexibility to work in a dynamic and changing environment.

Safety consciousness: Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and a commitment to promoting and maintaining a safe working environment.

Internship duration: 12 months

Additional Information

Co-op or internship experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering-related role, such as a co-op or internship, can provide valuable hands-on experience and demonstrate a practical application of engineering principles.

Coursework: Highlight relevant coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of a manufacturing engineer, such as courses in manufacturing processes, industrial automation, quality control, materials science, or supply chain management.

Software proficiency: Familiarities with additional software tools commonly used in manufacturing engineering, such as simulation software or statistical analysis software, can be advantageous.

Knowledge of regulatory compliance: Understanding of relevant industry standards and regulatory compliance, such as ISO 9001 for quality management systems or ISO 14001 for environmental management systems, can be valuable in ensuring adherence to industry requirements.

Certifications: Possession of certifications related to manufacturing or engineering disciplines, such as Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Manufacturing, can demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and process optimization.

Research experience: If applicable, highlight any research projects or academic studies related to manufacturing engineering or process improvement. This can showcase your ability to conduct in-depth analysis and contribute to the field's knowledge base.

Leadership and extracurricular activities: Participation in leadership roles or involvement in extracurricular activities, such as engineering clubs or professional organizations, can indicate strong teamwork, communication, and leadership skills.

Professional development: Any relevant workshops, seminars, or conferences attended that demonstrate your commitment to professional growth and staying updated on industry trends.
