The Role

The AspenTech Digital Grid Management (DGM) business unit is looking for an Associate Software Developer interested in creating and maintaining full-stack web application and automation tools to support our software operations.
In this role, you will be a member of an Agile development team that designs and implements complex installation utilities critical to the successful deployment of DGM software to our partners in the energy industry. This role’s contributions have highly visible impacts to the success of our business and the success of our software deployments.
As part of the DGM business unit, you join an R&D organization whose work makes a direct impact on all energy consumers, is actively working to address the challenges of climate change, and who’s positioned in the market to grow at a rapid pace over the next decade with massive opportunities for career growth.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a fundamental understanding of software development techniques while possessing passion to learn and grow your expertise to the next level. We want independent, self-driven developers with a passion for problem solving and the motivation to plan and execute moderate complexity development projects to successful completion.

Your Impact

Develop and support an ecosystem of full-stack web applications to automate the DGM software design, build, and deployment processes Collaborate with other developers, architects, and stakeholders to design and implement best -in-class software. Design and implement reliable, performant, and fault tolerant code based on requirements and/or user stories. Ensure reliable code by developing unit tests and test automation tools. Assist in code and design reviews. Train and mentor other team members in your area of expertise. Take part in agile team ceremonies such as scrum, sprint planning, and retrospective. Investigate, isolate, and identify solutions to reported software malfunctions. Create tools that provide insights to developers, engineers, and leadership across the organization.

What You'll Need

Experience with object orientated programming languages such as Java, C++, C#, Python Experience with JavaScript web-development frameworks.  Experience developing and using RESTful web services. Experience with both relational and NOSQL databases. Experience using Git and GitHub for source control. General knowledge of and ability to translate customer requirements into technical specifications and documentation. Experience in identifying, communicating, and resolving problems in a collaborative, professional manner. Ability to adapt to feedback and changing requirements. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field. Opportunities to travel may arise but are not required. Prior experience with Java, Python, and Angular strongly preferred. Prior experience with MSSQL and MongoDB strongly preferred. Basic experience with user interface design and adjusting approach to user interaction and feedback. Understanding of algorithms and complex data structures. Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities at once. Strong self-awareness. Able to know one’s abilities, commit to due dates, and hold oneself accountable.
