Assistant Process Manager

Job PURPOSE:

 Working side by side with the Production Manager and cross-functionally with the entire team, the Assistant Process Manager is responsible for team member safety, producing high quality malt, and production plan attainment while controlling operating costs of the facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

You will be monitoring the daily operations and the achievement of the daily production plan, the scheduling, receiving, and shipping plan. (SAP management) You will follow up and collect data from process to develop continuous improvement projects that need attention, prioritize work, whether achieving a milestone of doing an implementation (create charts for data analysis) Leading continuous improvement meetings Analysis of plant processes Set and analyze process improvement goals for main KPIs (Safety/Quality /Water, Gas, Electricity, Maintenance) Follow up on action plans to improve process efficiency. Identify opportunities to improve plant performance through the data analysis. Ensure a reliable operation by managing the operator’s rotation plan, weekend coverage and coordinating the training plan for all operations teams, new hirings, and new process. Manage consumables inventory to ensure all supplies are available when needed and costs are efficiently controlled. Partner with the Production Manager to build a professional development plan that ensures mastery of the malting process and plant technologies. Manage contractors as Fume and pest control, By-products disposal. Manage the WWTP for monitoring, testing and sediments disposal.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

As Assistant Production Manager, will provide support to the Shift leads in the Malthouses and Elevators. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning production targets, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Protective Clothing Required:

The employee must wear safety shoes, safety glasses and a hard hat when working in manufacturing areas. The employee must wear respiratory equipment, hearing protection and gloves when required.

SAFETY:

Provides assistance in support of the safety strategy to eliminate work related injuries. Promotes a safe working environment. Performs all job functions in a safe manner and maintains safety awareness. Reports known accidents, injuries and unsafe practices or conditions to safety manager.

Qualifications required:

Bachelor’s Degree: Engineering Preferred 3 plus years progressive manufacturing supervision and management experience or similar environment Minimum 1year of experience within food industry  Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, at all levels of the Company. Strong supervisory, organizational, and leadership skills Self-motivated and directed, able to work well under pressure, manage and prioritize multiple initiatives concurrently, attention to details, and meet deadlines. Problem solving and conflict resolution skills. ERP experience: SAP preferred. Effective oral and written communication skills. Advance Microsoft Office Experience: Excel Bilingual: Spanish and fluent English is required (speaking, reading, comprehension, and writing) Exposure to lean manufacturing and application of lean tools Intermediate knowledge of food processing and biochemistry.
