Role Description

The Energy Efficiency and Cogeneration Superintendent plays a crucial role in formulating and implementing energy strategies aimed at maximizing economic gains while maintaining the optimal functioning of the cogeneration plant. This position demands a blend of technical proficiency, strategic foresight, and effective leadership to streamline energy usage, ensure regulatory adherence, and spearhead ongoing enhancement initiatives.

Duties & Responsibilities

Energy Strategy Development and Implementation:

  • Formulate and execute comprehensive energy strategies designed to optimize economic benefits, encompassing the negotiation of advantageous fuel and electricity procurement contracts.
  • Oversee the efficient allocation of energy resources across various production processes, ensuring maximum utilization and cost-effectiveness.

Cogeneration Plant Performance Optimization:

  • Monitor and optimize the operational performance of the cogeneration plant, employing proactive measures to minimize downtime and enhance overall efficiency.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve optimal returns on investment, utilizing data-driven insights and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Project Evaluation and Management:

  • Assess, prioritize, and manage energy-saving projects through their entire lifecycle, from initial evaluation and investment analysis to successful implementation and ongoing monitoring.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution, timely completion, and alignment with organizational objectives and budgetary constraints.

Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Stay abreast of evolving energy regulations, standards, and industry best practices, ensuring strict adherence to compliance requirements and mitigating regulatory risks.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify and address any compliance gaps or deficiencies, implementing corrective actions as necessary to maintain regulatory integrity.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation:

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the energy management framework, actively seeking out opportunities for innovation and optimization.
  • Lead initiatives to implement new technologies, processes, and methodologies aimed at further enhancing energy efficiency, reducing costs, and minimizing environmental impact.
  • Active participation with the purchasing team in the contracting processes for the purchase of energy from the Cuautitlan and Vallejo plants, ensuring the best technical and price conditions.
  • Active participation in the sustainability and carbon footprint reduction programs established by WireCo, generating reduction and improvement strategies

Supervisory Responsibility

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Provide guidance, direction, and mentorship to team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Set clear performance expectations, establish goals, and conduct regular performance evaluations to support professional growth and development.

Resource Management and Allocation:

  • Allocate resources effectively to ensure the timely and successful execution of projects and initiatives, balancing workload and priorities across the team.
  • Monitor resource utilization and identify opportunities for optimization or reallocation to maximize productivity and efficiency.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Facilitate open and transparent communication within the team and across departments, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Serve as a liaison between team members and upper management, providing regular updates on project progress, challenges, and achievements.

Problem Solving and Conflict Resolution:

  • Proactively identify and address any issues or obstacles that may arise during project execution, employing effective problem-solving techniques to find solutions.
  • Act as a mediator in resolving conflicts or disagreements among team members, fostering a constructive and respectful work environment.

Performance Management and Accountability:

  • Hold team members accountable for their individual responsibilities and project deliverables, addressing any performance issues or deviations from expectations promptly and constructively.
  • Recognize and reward exemplary performance, providing motivation and encouragement to inspire continued excellence.
     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical) or related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in energy management, cogeneration, or related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in energy efficiency strategies, including project evaluation and implementation.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance related to energy management and environmental standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
  • Ability to travel as needed to various facilities or project sites.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Mexico without restrictions.
  • Applicants must undergo a satisfactory background check post-offer of employment. A criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify an applicant.
  • Must be willing and able to pass a post-offer drug screening and physical examination (if required).
