Career Area:Engineering**Job Description**:Customer Services Package Refurbishment and Upgrades (PRU) Engineering provides engineered solutions in support of the execution of aftermarket business. PRU Engineers work as part of a multi-disciplined project team to execute orders ranging from minor package system upgrades through in-situ refurbishment of entire packages. The Mechanical Engineer (MME/MDE) position is responsible for the mechanical design and manufacturing of package upgrades and retrofits. The incumbent will work as part of a project team, led by Customer Services Project Management to execute orders ranging from minor package system upgrades through in-situ refurbishment of entire packages. The primary accountabilities for the role include:- Responsible for the mechanical layout, bill of materials, design of package upgrades and retrofits.- Collaborate with various engineering, fabrication, assembly operations, logistics and field installation personnel to ensure that project designs are high quality, safe and cost effective.- Independently gather and analyze relevant data and define project issues in engineering terms with mínimal technical direction.- Facilitation of design reviews with peers and team members.Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or other relevant degree.- Minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).- 0-2 years of relevant experience.- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.- Previous related internship and/or work experience.Preferred Qualifications:- Experience with turbomachinery products(gas turbines, centrifugal compressors, generators/alternators, etc.)- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications- Experience with 3D CAD programs for mechanical designs (PTC Creo or Dassault Systems SolidWorks)- Ability to work well with others, a sense of team spirit and flexibility with to meet deadlines- A sense of urgency and organizational skills are also required to work with multiple projects and competing prioritiesCaterpillar is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EEO).Not ready to apply?
