This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.Role Purpose Provide leadership and expertise to establish processes and procedures to promote an efficient operation in the production areas, support the selection of equipment and improvement of processes and equipment to increase efficiency and reduce cost.Key Responsibilities Prioritize and manage multiple, complex tasks & complete them on time every time. Assist in the hiring of the production personnel necessary to efficiently produce product 24 hours a day within established production costs. Maintain close surveillance over operations through perusal of reports, staff meetings, observation, and personal contact to assure coordination and integration of timely workflow, timely production, budgetary conformance, schedules, utilization of personnel, skills, machines, equipment, and facilities. Oversee installation and initial use of new equipment, to ensure proper use, operation and integration into the department. Organization and prioritization of diverse on-going projects and employee safety. In conjunction with the operations and associated Managers, assist with the development and formulation of long- and short-range plans, policies, programs, operating procedures, and objectives. Be accountable for the timely completion of projects. Be responsible for all costs associated with the production areas. Experiences/Education - Required B.S. in Engineering or equivalent experience High English Conversational level Progressive responsibilities in manufacturing and engineering roles in plants and divisions Experience in leading departments or organizations in meeting continuous improvement goals, step change performance improvements, innovation, expanding technical capability, work redesign or other change efforts Experience building and managing a cohesive staff and establishing collaborative relationships across functional areas Demonstrated track record of growing and placing talent Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience. Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience. Experiences/Education - Desired M.B.A. or equivalent business degree Experience in multiple businesses, divisions, technologies Experience in staff or project roles Manufacturing and/or engineering experiences throughout the product life cycle (growth and/or decline, new product introductions, turnaround situation, etc.) Experience in leading or being a member of projects and teams. Experience using positional power or personal influence to accomplish objectives Experience with global manufacturing and business through work, project experience, or expatriate assignment Work independent of supervision.
