He/she would be leading the conceptualization, design, implementation and testing of technologies, tools, or processes while consistently demonstrating technical expertise and ingenuity. They demonstrate the ability to plan, define, and execute projects with no supervision. They are recognized throughout the Division as an emerging expert. Responsible for the packaging and mechanical accommodation of high-performance automotive amplifiers and infotainment head units incorporating navigation, voice recognition, and wireless connectivity all wrapped around an audiophile sound system. The Principal Mechanical Engineer provide design leading for the realization and manufacture of an infotainment product using the Harman design and development processes.Job Responsibilities:- Work as key mechanical designer for project to achieve project and product development in time and in quality through the whole product life cycle.- Responsible for mechanical development activities for project, concept design and verification, conduct design reviews, risk assessment. Review the design documentation and design output for accuracy. Lead the mechanical integration aspects of new product development.- Develops advanced mechanical packaging for automotive amplifiers, infotainment head units and silver boxes. Analyzes packaging feasibility and coordinate thermal simulation, vibration, and shock analysis as required to ensure design meets product specification required by customer, federal regulations, and cost targets.- Release and maintain controlled documents as required.- Provide preprogram with quick turn designs/samples and technical documentation as required.- Leading the preparation of documents and reports with cross-functional teams for engineering and program management along with participating in design reviews with customers and engineering peers.- Manage product timelines to meet overall project goals.- Creates the production BOM's. Updates & Releases BOM's using Harman's configuration management & PLM systems.- In charge of the analysis techniques such as the DFMEA and/or DRBRM to identify and assess design and manufacturing risks. Develops plans to validate the robustness of product designs- Principal responsible in the realization of customer requirements and specifications (RFC, RFI, and RFQ), product test plans, and production QA processes as needed to ensure the development and manufacture of quality products.- Technical responsible for the industrialization of functional items in an international environment.- Direct interaction with laboratory responsible to conduct the product conformance testing for environmental performance to automotive and customer requirements.- Use CATIA Version 5 (Revision 20 or higher) and CREO 4.0 CAD software at expert level to develop product concepts and designs of Harman International amplifier and/or infotainment assemblies and components.- Create complex 3D models, assembly drawings and component drawings of product designs- Create tolerance stack-up analysis on an amplifier and/or infotainment assembly’s components and its vehicle-mounting interface.- Mentor other engineers with technical expertise.- Travel to Harman customer and supplier facilities, as necessary.- Stay current on innovative manufacturing processes to facilitate optimal product design using DFA and/or Design for Assembly & Manufacturing methodology.- Responsible of technical reports and presentations for customer and/or internal use, as necessary.- Coordinate the creation and releasing of appropriate engineering documentation.- As required, direct and monitor the activities of less experienced mechanical design engineers, as required by the departmental manager. Provide leadership and mentorship to less experienced team members.- Lead internal design reviews with peers and management to ensure that new product designs are compliant to ‘Best Practices’ and ‘Lessons Learned’ requirements.Au
