DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Recognizes and values customers and fellow associates by:- working to meet clearly stated internal customer requirements- looking for opportunities to improve work processes- Regular and predictable daily on-site attendance is required in accordance with the site operational demands.- Conforms to the dress code, the workspace, and the building guidelines, as well as all other company policies.- Establish goals and provide direction to lead the team toward the achievement of company goals. Maintain and analyze key metrics; improve departmental performance measures through use and interpretation of continuous improvement tools.- Formulate, recommend and/or implement policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving the Company’s competitive position and the profitability of the operation.- Assist in the preparation of the departmental annual budget based on the forecasting by the company and direction from leadership; achieve optimal performance and expense levels to meet the annual budgetary plan.- Communicate with customers as needed to address concerns such as load quality, damages, item availability, backorders, driver delays, etc.- Support the execution of operations including shipping, receiving, returns & damages, inventory control, maintenance, and other administrative activities to ensure the customer requirements and demands are met in an efficient manner.- Continuously develop and maintain high standards of product handling quality to ensure customer and Company quality and efficiency standards are met.- Direct and coordinate various programs essential to operational procedures (training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, quality, associate involvement, security, etc.) to supervisors and associates. Audit to ensure standards are being met.- Initiate and coordinate major projects such as production layout changes, equipment, and space needs and utilization, capital expenses and major repairs.- Participate in and/or lead safety, retention and recruiting committees and initiatives.- Keep current on information and technology affecting functional areas to increase innovation and make appropriate recommendations to leadership as necessary.- Make employment decisions and/or recommendations on hiring, improvement plans, transfers, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, pay adjustments, etc.- Coordinate and manage the work of associates by directing members of the team to meet the area’s goals. Audit regularly to ensure standard operating procedures are being adhered to.- Audit, maintain and ensure associate time-keeping and absentee records are accurate.- Communicate company and departmental issues and goals and facilitate associate growth and development through regular team meetings, consistent individual associate meetings, coaching, training, and company-offered learning opportunities.- Manage associate performance and assist associates in making improvements to their performance through coaching, mentoring and administering performance reviews. Recommend, plan and/or implement associate training and skill development activities.- Manage resources, making real-time adjustments when needed, to optimize equipment, facilities, associates, methods, and materials.- Leads by example and imposes all safety and operational procedures; promote and ensure a safe working environment in compliance with company and regulatory standards by coaching and guiding associates on safety procedures and maintain compliance with established policies and procedures.- Identify, recommend and implement changes to improve productivity and quality while reducing cost and waste.- Participates in the review of root cause analysis; resolves and/or facilitates resolution of problems, including identifying causes to prevent re-occurrence.- Implements process improvements and controls for efficient operations, quality and productivity through continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and safely increase productivity and by establishing and communicating performance expectations.- Responsible for accurately completing reports and providing production data.- Meets performance standards for quality, productivity, reliability, initiative, safety, and work relationships- Other duties as assigned.- EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Management or related field or equivalent work experience required- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a medium to large sized furniture manufacturing environment managing a significant segment of the facility.- Lean/Six Sigma basic certification preferred.- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in making sound business decisions that successfully drive business initiatives.- Excellent team building, problem solving, troubleshooting and time
