Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

At STERIS, we help our Customers create a healthier and safer world by providing innovative healthcare and life science product and service solutions around the globe.**Position Summary**:Layout Design, preparation of complex 3D models, technical assembly and component drawings, responsible for project documentation, provides solutions and /or improves designs of electromechanical products solving functional problems in existing or developing products, using their expertice to guide or lead projects. Supports and guide manufacturing and design engineers on the appropriate use of Life cycle management and production systems as well as on development of technical drawings, CAD models and documentation to support enterprise changes and new product development of medical devices.Developing technology systems creatively and effectively in an independent and multidisciplinary way.**Duties**:- Defines design and manufacturing implementation tasks, meeting with multidisciplinary team as part of product changes, following quality procedures and regulatory requirements.- Analyzes & creates supporting documentation for product changes and or new design concepts, detailed mechanical design work including 3D modelling, simulation (eg thermal & stress) and required design verification test protocols and reports. Agreeing the mechanical design approach with the Engineering Manager and or Research & Development Director to deliver optimized designs considering design for manufacturing, service, reliability and cost.- Mentors mechanical designers on the use of design, lyfe cycle management and Manufacturing tools (i.e PLM, AS400, CREO, Autocad, Adobe illustrator, etc.) to deliver optimized design for manufacturing, serviceability and reliability, meeting quality and regulatory requirements, guiding them thru the use of good documentation practices as well as the correct path to follow to understand design requirements and or specifications (i.e. Design History File, Device Master Records, etc), as well as required product certifications (i.e. UL, CSA, CE Mark, CRN, ASME, PED, etc.)- Provides engineering support to other departments alike manufacturing, service, quality, purchasing, materials and suppliers solving product´s complaints reported either on the field or at production floor as well as supplier´s transfers.- Responsible for identifying mechanical part numbers in accordance with the material finishes.- Responsible for creation of 2D drawings to allow manufacture or purchase.- Responsible for generation of Assembly drawings and bills of materials.- Responsible for carrying out design change requests in a timely manner.**Education Degree**:- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering General or Engineering General**Required Experience**:- Seven or more (7+) years experience in drafting and design (Mechanical and /or electrical).- Proficient using Computer Aided Design packages (i.e., CREO, AutoCad, & PLM)- Broad knowledge and experience on use of Life cycle management and manufacturing systems(i.e. PLM, AS400, ORACLE) as well as on Engineering and Drafting principles coupled with originality, creative and substantial knowledge of materials, hardware and shop practices.- Ability to understand/produce technical drawings- Ability to co-ordinate with multidisciplinary teams deliver optimal design solutions- Able to plan an report mechanical design status on the assigned tasks- Ensures the mechanical design functionally meets the users requirements- Produces designs to specified deadlines and achieves the required timescales- Sets an example to the other members of the mechanical design team on how to manage designsSTERIS is a leading global provider of products and services that support patient care with an emphasis on infection prevention.
