Engineering Manager, Personalization Seller Team

You’ll help deliver a re-envisioned suite of experiences that enable millions of sellers to showcase their products and craft to interested buyers.This is a full-time role within the Inventory Buyer Experience Initiative on our Perso Seller Team. Our mission is to deliver a best-in-class experience for purchasing personalized items.This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Engineering. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.**What does the day-to-day look like?**- Lead a fast paced, data-driven, and agile team of 5 to 8 fullstack software engineers to build systems that measurably improve seller’s ability to list, edit, and update listings that collect personalized inputs from our buyers- Take part in the end-to-end recruiting process, hiring and on-boarding exceptional engineering talent.- Serve as a coach, mentor, and advocate for the engineers on your team.- Work with other leaders within engineering to develop and evolve engineering processes and standard methodologies.- Prioritize, scope, plan, develop, and deliver projects at various completion stages or definitions when started. Planning and delivery of your team’s roadmap- Establish strong cross-functional relationships with product engineers, product managers, user researchers, designers, analysts as well as platform, data, and infrastructure teams.- Foster a culture of learning, collaboration and thoughtful delivery on your teams- Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.**Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are**:- Strong Engineering full-stack hands-on experience, including ownership of user facing experiences that support high volume and require high reliability and the backend systems that power them within a large code base.- Experience working in a product engineering context (collaborating directly with non-engineering teams to build cohesive end-to-end systems)- Experience coaching and mentoring engineers through significant career achievements- Excellent written and oral communication skills, comfortable working with collaborators outside engineering (ex: Design, Product, Analytics)- Experience shaping team process that focus on delivering work effectively and setting technical strategy- Familiarity with one or more modern web JavaScript frameworks such as React, Redux, Preact, Angular, Vue, Next.js or similar- Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.- 3+ years of people management experience- Can promote high-quality technical decision-making across a broad stack, pairing a passion for the technical aspects of your domain with empowering engineers to make decisions.- Excel in an environment with an emphasis on experimentation and metrics.- Have the ability to make data-driven decisions in the face of ambiguous or changing priorities and goals.- Lead the creation of effective documentation, whether it’s for code, system design, or making group decisions.- A trust in and dedication to Etsy’s vision, mission and values.**Nice to have skills**:- Experience using PHP, MySQL in scaled production environments- Experience with shipping features in mobile apps using Flutter or another cross platform technology- Experience with A/B testing experiments to validate product improvements**Additional Information**What's NextIf you're interested in joining the team at Etsy, please share your resume with us and feel free to include a cover letter if you'd like.
