OVERVIEWThe Welcoming Communities Program Coordinator will direct the implementation of USCRI’s Welcoming Communities Program, conducted in its Aguascalientes field office and implemented across Mexico. The program aims to create a new narrative regarding forced displacement and migration in Mexico. Through the mobilization of university campuses, this program has the objective to catalyze institutional capacities in the higher education system in Mexico to induce systemic change that leads to communities that are hospitable to refugees and conscious of the value of the cultural diversity that refugees and migrants bring. The Welcoming Communities Program Coordinator will be responsible to plan and execute the three components of the program: allied university network, student committees network, and refugee student councils. Core responsibilities for the Program Coordinator include leadership of a mission-driven group of operations staff, reporting of program results, and quality assurance for events and services. This position will report to the Program Coordinator, USCRI Mexico.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Coordinate, consolidate and follow up on activities in the three components of the Welcoming Communities Program;- Supervise and organize events, such as the university committees events, leadership meetings, the intercultural mobility week, monitoring and high-level visits, as well as what may be required by the Program Coordination;- Plan site visits to amplify and consolidate the University Allies Network and Student Committees, as well as other events that are necessary for the execution of the program;- Maintain routine meetings with national and international points of contact related to the program;- Draft concept notes, budgets and other necessary tools to plan events;- Compile reports and other records of the events for all activities;- Represent the Welcoming Communities Program in events and/or participation and requested;- Establish routine follow-up meetings with program officers assigned to each component of the program;- Collaborate with the communications team to develop audiovisual materials needed for events, presentations, workshops and social media communications;- Conduct and update presentations and workshops of the program;- Develop and update manuals and work instruments for internal use;- Site visits to conduct workshops on providing higher education to refugees; and- Maintain communication with coordinators, and/or directors that require partnerships.POSITION REQUIREMENTS- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; Master’s degree in business, social services administration, non-profit management, related field, or equivalent experience preferred;- Minimum of one (1) year of professional work experience with supervisory and program management experience;- Experience in the development, execution and reporting of programs;- Experience in event organization, budget management and migration-related themes;- Demonstrated commitment to humanitarian response, for refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers, and/or other vulnerable populations;- Strong leadership experience and team-building skills, with the capacity to serve as lead for provision of trauma-informed, culturally appropriate and competent client care;- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to government funders, donors, clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and experience, multicultural staff, community partners, and volunteers;- Exceptional time management, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines;- Strong decision-making skills and capacity to delegate decision-making to team members;- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, financial systems, and database programs; and- Commitment to USCRI’s values including demonstration of respect for others and appreciation of a multicultural workplace;- Must pass a criminal background check and other screening requirements;- Demonstrated support of USCRI’s values by exhibiting respect for others, maintenance of confidential information and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace;- Spoken and written Spanish and English is required.TRAINING REQUIREMENTS- Satisfactory completion of USCRI’s Orientation and Training; and- Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources.**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**- Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity;- Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functionsEQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITYU.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants is an equal opportunity employer.
