Join to apply for the IT Backup Administrator role at NOV The Backup Administrator is responsible for ensuring the stability, reliability, and recoverability of NOV’s data through effective administration of backup and recovery solutions. This role requires a detail-oriented and analytical professional capable of troubleshooting and resolving complex issues related to data protection, backup operations, and disaster recovery. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and manage reliable backup and recovery solutions to protect critical business data. Troubleshoot failed backups caused by software or hardware issues, coordinating with Server and Database Administrators, as well as software vendors. Perform backup and restore operations across multiple operating systems, including VMware environments. Conduct regular testing of backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and system availability. Collaborate with IT teams and key stakeholders to establish data retention and archival policies. Develop and maintain clear, up-to-date documentation for all backup and recovery procedures. Provide training and support for internal teams on backup and recovery best practices. Disaster Recovery Planning Develop, implement, and test disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity. Collaborate with stakeholders to align DR strategies with business objectives. Maintain and update disaster recovery documentation. Qualifications and Skills Minimum 3 years of experience in IT systems administration, with a focus on backup and recovery. Hands-on experience managing backup and recovery solutions in medium to large-scale environments. Proficiency with backup tools such as Rubrik, CommVault, or Azure Backup. Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux servers, VMware, Hyper‑V, SQL/Oracle databases, and cloud environments. Understanding of network protocols, storage solutions, and cybersecurity principles. Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Azure Administrator, Security+, Rubrik or Commvault training) are a plus. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, changing environment. Solid understanding of business continuity and data protection strategies. Excellent communication skills in English. Location Requirement Candidates must currently reside in Monterrey or its metropolitan area .
