**Duties**:The Customs Analyst roles and responsibilities includes the following: prepare analysis on Mexico Customs Imports correctly and timely executed based on the set standard and methodologies, follows adequate compliance requirements and internal controls, and serves as a repository of expertise in their functional area. Specific duties related to this position include, but are not limited to, the following:- Analysis of Mexico Imports to determine preference Free Trade Agreement (FTA) eligibility- Solicitation of certificates of origin (EUR1 or declarations of origin in invoice) for parts imported into Mexico from the European Union.- Solicitation of certificates of origin (ACE55) for parts imported into Mexico from GM Brazil.- Solicitation of certificates of origin (ACE55) for parts imported to Mexico from different Brazilian suppliers.- Solicitation of declarations of origin (ACE55) to Mexican suppliers that will be used for the ACE55 Certificate of Origin issuing via Ministry of Economy.- Preparation of Certificate of Origin to customers, including shipment of physical copies through DHL.- Preparation and analysis of reports in compliance with Steel Notices process.- Able to communicate and speak fluently with GM US Business Partners, Brokers and Third-Party Service Providers for any missing/incomplete information or documentation.- Create reports on a weekly base and identify non eligible parts.In addition, below are the Customs Analyst responsibilities:- Responsible for operationally executing and supporting GM Mexico Customs methodologies- Provide timely and accurate update on the workload as part of Status Reporting- Have a direct communication with GM Mexico Customs team- Ensures compliance with Mexico Authorities (Ministry of Economy) or any other required authority- Provide daily, weekly and monthly status of workload to Team Lead/Supervisor.- Produce schedules, reports, analysis, and other work-product as required.They also must comply with overall requirements for a Customs Analyst as follows:- Ensures compliance with GM Corporate policies and external regulatory requirements;- Supports internal and external audits (if any)- Interacts with internal/external related parties- Has strong control focus - brings any issues (accounting or control related) forward immediately;- Can present to Senior Leadership and consolidating information in a clear and understandable matter;- Self-starter and able to accomplish assigned tasks with minimum supervision;- Has a strong focus on process improvements to drive quality accounting and compliance- Frequent contact with others outside of work group to accomplish tasks- Leading Special Projects (including LEAN/Six Sigma activities)**Additional Job Description**Professional background in International trade /business or similarResumes shared both in English/SpanishMs office, Excel and Access**Technical Knowledge Requirements**:- Excellent knowledge on Customs duties (Mexico Regulations) - additionally, continue to attend trainings on these topics to remain adequately informed and knowledgeable;- Systems aptitude is a requirement for this position with knowledge of various GM Systems used for Mexico Imports mainly TMSII, Cognos, Microsoft Power BI and other sources knowledge necessary for the role - employee must be willing to continuously learn the GM systems landscape and functionality.- May need to know basic knowledge on title 19 - Customs duties (US Code of Federal Regulation) and US Free Trade Agreements - additionally, continue to attend trainings on these topics to remain adequately informed and knowledgeable.**Non-Technical Skills & Competencies**:- Quick learner, Self-directed and detail oriented- Integrity and Trust;- Interpersonal Savvy;- Learning on the Fly; High level of problem-solving skills- Customer Service Mindset;- Ability to team and partner with others effectively- Strong written and verbal communication skills including working with international associates where English and Spanish is a second language.- Research issues and provide appropriate resolution as necessary;- Ability to pursue open issues to resolution;- High level of analytical ability to solve unusual and difficult issues;- Flexibility in work hours to accommodate Mexico and US Time zones.- Current Level 5A, 6C/6B (Lateral Movement for 6C and 6B Senior Analysts);- Has completed Probationary Evaluation Reviews;- High ratings within the Probationary and CAP Performance Reviews;- Various special projects and ad hoc responsibilities including support for internal/external auditors;- Proven track record of achievementDiversity and inclusion are our strengths.
