Flex is the diversified manufacturing partner of choice that helps market-leading brands design, build and deliver innovative products that improve the world.Job SummaryWhat a typical day looks like:- Take ownership during the entire life cycle of automation projects, from concept to feasibility and from fabrication and test to production.- Define, develop, and deploy automation into Flex sites. Design the layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency and safety.- Prepare RFQ’s and solicit quotations from automation suppliers. Evaluate supplier quotations to obtain the best combination of technical solution, cost and timing.- Develop budget and schedule for projects and manage projects to stay within them. Able to quickly cost evaluate and work up the financial justification for automating- Conduct equipment design reviews and provide design guidance to suppliers.- Manage automation suppliers through all phases of projects.- Provide on-site support during machine build, debug and testing/qualification.- Supervise installation and testing to verify requirements and specifications are met.- Draft qualification protocols and support equipment qualification activities.- Develop manufacturing solutions with the best combination of manual, semi-automation and/or full automation. Evaluate and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow.- Implement cost effective automation solution.- Support new product development automation needs, facilitate assembly processes through the implementation of assembly cells and automated equipment at NPI stage and ensure meeting development timeline.- Interface with customers and functional owners on product development issues regarding automation.
