Position Summary:
The Tax Director, reporting to the Head of Tax-Americas, will join a strong corporate tax group that is an integral part of the tax team at SHEIN. This leader oversees all aspects of Mexico Tax, responsible for the local entities tax provisions, compliance, indirect taxes, tax controversy, and transfer pricing. They will ensure accurate and timely reporting of all tax-related financial information in compliance with regulatory requirements. Additionally, they will design, develop, and implement tax strategies and policies aligned with business goals to optimize the company's overall tax position. This position will also interact with key finance, accounting, and other business partners across SHEIN. Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
Job responsibilities
1.Develop and implement tax strategies aligned with business goals to optimize the company's overall tax position.
2.Provide proactive advice on tax implications related to business initiatives and other strategic decisions.
3.Lead local tax audits and controversies, working closely with external auditors, consultants, and tax authorities to resolve issues efficiently.
4.Mitigate tax risks through thorough analysis and documentation of tax positions.
5.Develop and maintain local transfer pricing strategies and policies to ensure compliance with regulations.
6.Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and other cross-functional teams (i.e., Marketing, Fulfillment, Payment, Business Development) to ensure tax considerations are integrated into business decisions.
7.Act as a key point of contact for external tax advisors and regulatory authorities.
Able to collaborate and lead tax projects with Corporate and Regional Tax team members.
Job Qualifications
1.Bachelor’s degree with a major or emphasis in Accounting. Master’s degree in Tax or Accounting
2.Experience in both industry and Big 4 accounting firm highly desired.
3.Minimum of 10 years of tax experience in MX tax with a passion to be effective, experience in E-commerce/online business is a plus.
4.Demonstrates thought leadership ability to communicate complicated tax matters across all levels of the organization in a value driven manner.
5.Ability to think end-to-end from strategic planning through multi-year execution.
6.Proficient partnering capabilities with proven ability to develop meaningful relationships with cross-functional stakeholders and to influence and collaborate across groups.
7.Analytical and problem-solving skills with experience exercising mature judgment and best practices.
8.Proven success managing and prioritizing multiple projects across a fast-paced and continually changing environment.
9.Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, strong organization and execution skills with attention to detail
10.Fluent in English.
