Job Purpose:- The role applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Responsible for accounting requirements for assigned areas to be complete timely and accurately.- Major Accountabilities- Interact proactively with functional areas to ensure accurate accounting and financial reporting is accomplished within prescribed deadlines and in accordance with IFRS / Alcon Accounting Manual- Prepare accurate and robust monthly balance sheet account analyses and reconciliations, including analyses for balance sheet reviews- Prepare accurate journal entries in a timely manner- Ongoing process improvements made through the month to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and address business / operational changes.- Collaborate proactively with key stakeholders, including Finance colleagues, internal and external accounting authorities/auditors, and Regional/Global Financial Reporting and Accounting. Communication with these stakeholders is appropriate and timely when questions regarding accounting/reporting matters arise.- Ensure all processes comply with Alcon standards and policies (i.e. global processes, Alcon Accounting Manual, Alcon Financial Controls Manual, Management Authorization Levels, etc.).- Understand all impacts to the general ledger for assigned areas due to other intra- and inter-departmental transactions including manufacturing, inventory and cost accounting, inter-company receivables and payables, cash activity and activity from other functional departments.- Education:- Undergraduate degree in Accounting and/or Finance required. Masters or Advanced degree in Accounting and/or Finance preferred- CPA/Chartered Accountant preferred- Requirements:- 6+ years of accounting experience - public and industry preferred- Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS (GAAP), accounting and financial reporting requirements. Strong analytical skills.- Proficient ERP knowledge (SAP, JDE)- Solid Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)- Experience working on process improvement projects and financial process engineering- Experience working within shared services teams preferred
