Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Support Engineer to join our growing team. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to develop your career while supporting Audible's services, platforms, and unique Activate Caring culture.
Responsibilities
- Technical Lead : Be a technical lead on the team and act as a subject matter expert for one or more services.
- Support Leader : Be viewed as a support leader throughout the larger organization and be regularly engaged to work on cross-team planning.
- Cross-Functional Team Projects : Lead large, cross-functional team projects and resolve the most complex support issues.
- Business Impact : Understand the business impact of support decisions.
- Operational Efficiency : Drive the team to improve operational efficiency for all services through the identification and development of SLAs, metrics, monitors, procedures, tools, and documentation.
- Proactive Problem-Solving : Think proactively and work to prevent support issues before they are realized.
- Design Reviews : Participate in design reviews to identify and mitigate support risks.
- Collaboration : Work closely with development and QA teams to improve the change management life-cycle.
- Production Architecture : Have a deep understanding of production architecture and familiarity with operating system best practices.
- Script Development : Identify and drive small production architecture changes.
- Talent Management : Regularly work with management to assign tasks and small projects to other Support Engineers.
- Strategic Direction : Take a role in the strategic direction of the team.
- Hiring and Training : Play a significant role in hiring, mentoring, and training employees.
Requirements
- Industry Experience : 3+ years industry experience in programming and/or technical support roles.
- Troubleshooting : Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems.
- Unix/Linux OS : Experience in Unix or Linux OS.
- Programming Languages : Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages, such as Java, C/C++, C#, Objective C, Python, JavaScript.
Preferred Qualifications
- Scripting : Experience scripting in modern programming languages.
- Git : Good understanding and experience of using GIT.
- Enterprise-Wide Implementations : Supporting implementations enterprise-wide.
- Computer Networking : Knowledge of AWS Services and computer networking fundamentals.
- Coding Skills : Ability to run and debug code through an IDE.
