Import Export Manager

**Job Purpose**:The Import Export Manager is responsible and the go-to person for all staff involved in imports and export process, his or her responsibilities includes Import/Export operation, logistics and foreign trade activities, also is responsible for day-to-day compliance with Customs classification and trade regulations avoiding risks that may result in fines and penalties to the organization.Also, in charge of oversee import/export and compliance activities and data based on U.S. Customs and local country specific laws and regulations in accordance with Centerpiece policies and procedures. This position will handle day to day transactional tasks as well as department projects assigned.I/E Manager must always exercise “Reasonable Care” while executing his/her job responsibilities. This includes taking a “Pro-active” approach to problem solving.**Essential duties, responsibilities and authorities**- Supervise and follow up with the Customs Agency the tariff classifications (Import and Export) and update the databases with said codes.- Coordinate logistics activities, meaning import/export and compliance processes.- Proactively monitor all daily activities with logistics companies.- Oversee the management of customs record keeping requirements for all operations in this area.- Manage Customs training programs for trading partners, working across all internal departments including Operations, Engineering, New Product Introduction, Accounting, Materials, Planning/Purchasing- Monitor regulatory and legislative changes, as well as maintain import/export and compliance procedures.- Work with various business lines such as Operations, Finance and Engineering to identify root cause analysis and corrective action for customs compliance related issues.- Advise Sourcing/New Product Introduction teams on best practices to save duties and increase compliance rate by sharing customs merchandise information relative to business units, CPM and CPS.- Participate in informal sessions with team members related to tariff classification issues and participate in skills development training sessions (i.e., customs webinars) on how to improve classification skills to ensure maximum performance in performing the role.- Resolve all discrepancies and any other issues affecting the Customs entry process. (i.e., use a proactive approach with the broker for missing, incorrect, or incomplete data).- Ensures all data is captured by the time shipments arrive and updates the Annex 24 system as needed. To ensure that the revised documents are provided, communicating with suppliers as necessary, with the area of materials and Import / export.- Execute the tariff classification process for exports and verify compliance with the FDA code declaration.- Review commercial import and export invoices before sending them to the Broker.- Works with the Customs Broker and transportation vendors in resolving issues related to documented entries.- Assists in the preparation of periodic reports.- Responsible for managing, preparation and submittal of COFEPRIS permits for regulated material or equipment.- Work with all staff to maintain the VAT Certification, the IMMEX program and any other Foreign Trade license necessary to operate the Maquila business in Mexico.- Supervise and support the import and export team with the performance of audits, reports and other responsibilities related to regulatory compliance in Foreign Trade.- Manages, generates reports or adds import/export data using the Annex 24 system or MS Excel spreadsheet tools.- Process material downloads on Annex 24 and submit Annex 30- Establishes and improves procedures and processes of the Import/Export and Compliance areas.- Comply with and follow all procedures within the company's security policy.- Responsible for CTPAT certification, ensures that processes are followed.- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.- Determine eligibility of global Free Trade Agreements based on working knowledge- Follow-up & attention of internal and external audits**Qualifications**:- Academic Background_:- Bachelor’s degree in Customs, Logistics & International Trade or International Business- Work Experience:_- At least 5 years of proven International Export / Import Compliance experience in medical devices maquiladora- Further experience on import / export processes- Classification of products- Reviewing and issuing NAFTA / Certificates of origin- Work directly with US and Mexican customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders- Analysis and review of Annex 24 data base and submission of Annex 30- Technical Skills:_- Knowledge of Mexican regulations for foreign trade and Customs processes- Good computer skills, Office, Outlook- Good knowledge of Annex 24 and SAT portal- SAP system (preferred)- Soft Skills:_- Leadership and management of multidisciplinary teams.- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.- Strategic decision
