We are looking for an accomplished and visionary Principal UX Designer , familiar with design systems, and interested in leading the evolution of components, patterns, and guidelines for Oracle’s Redwood Design System. This Designer will help us in shaping user-centered experiences that have a profound impact on the healthcare industry.

What you’ll do

Our team is focused on reimagining healthcare applications to improve the user experience and ensure safe and effective use across roles and responsibilities. As a Lead Systems Designer, you will have the unique opportunity of identifying and solving complex healthcare problems by collaborating closely with clinicians, developers, product management, and other UX associates.
Creating a new vision for the future of healthcare requires a powerful and flexible experience that works across many apps, across device types (such as mobile, desktop, IoT, and large displays) and that adjusts naturally and fluidly through different contexts. We are making it functional and beautiful, creating data visualizations and charts that are easy to understand and also works of art.
In this role, you will work alongside the best designers, product managers, and technologists to design solutions that organizations across the world use for their healthcare systems and operations. Your work will have direct impact on both the user experience and the industry as we work to redefine this space.
As a Principal Systems Designer, your tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Partner with product managers to drive the roadmap for new components.
- Collaborate with product design teams to understand user needs, problems, and goals across diverse use cases.
- Partner with researchers and data scientists to gain insight to drive and improve designs.
- Work with other component designers to ensure cohesion and deliver exceptional user experiences.
- Articulate guiding principles to ground and inspire ideation, prototyping, and exploration of various design solutions.
- Design components with ingenious microinteractions, prioritize accessibility, and respond across desktop and mobile experiences.
- Create interaction specifications using language, diagrams, and prototypes to describe component usage, anatomy, behavior, and configuration with clarity and detail.
- Develop usage guidelines and training materials to help others learn and use the design system.
- Partner closely with engineering teams to ensure components are implemented to specification.
- Contribute to design specifications and help evolve our design systems.
- Mentor junior designers on the team.
Required qualifications and traits
Here’s the kind of person we are looking for:
- You have 8+ years of experience – You have worked as a designer for at least 8 years and have experience designing, building, and delivering products.
- You’re a full stack user experience designer with experience in creating design systems. You have worked to contribute to an enterprise Design System in the past.
- You thrive on working well with others and love to collaborate with designers, user researchers, engineers, and product managers.
- You get stuff done .
- You’re a fantastic storyteller and know that our products tell our customers a story through the user experience.
- You love rules and know when to break them to create an arresting and product-defining moment.
- You don’t already know everything and love to learn . You consume large amounts of quantitative and qualitative data to constantly refine your assumptions.
- And finally, you want to be part of creating dramatic and impactful change at a company that is committed to user experience design.
