This new role will be working in**Monterrey, Mexico.**We’re looking for a**Senior Commodity Buyer - Furniture **with experience in sourcing, product development, vendor management, and furniture experience. We are a very collaborative team that works closely together as we travel the world to work with new and existing vendors and relentlessly pursue remarkably better solutions- You’ll be a part of a growing team that currently consists of over 60 Particles globally and 7 Particles on our Sourcing team in Mexico- You will be evaluating vendor capabilities, and competitiveness, implementing new products and following up with key metrics as we grow our vendor base in North America to take advantage of shorter lead times, skilled labor, and USMCA trade agreements.- You will be supporting in all vendor relations, working closely with our vendors, and building relationships by traveling to our different vendor locations in Mexico**What You'll Do**:- Use 5 Porter’s forces to analyze local market competitiveness and generate sourcing insights to identify, compare and select furniture business partners in alignment with Article and sourcing objectives- Ensure vendor relationship and effective communication (vendor performance, business support, risk mitigation, and vendor development) with allocated suppliers and drive sustainable competition into the category- Negotiate and execute supply agreements based on Article needs- Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and market suppliers- Lead supplier visits to execute and manage: New product development and resourcing initiatives according to company processes. Productivity BOM Audit. Create and accelerate cost-down pipeline list- Partner with Supply Chain Operations to create, develop and finalize tools that add value and increase productivity on a continuous improvement and lean approach- Ensure early product definition criteria on quality, performance, and compliance (testing, trade, and customs) by engaging with Quality Assurance and Product Development teams- Manage RFX events as needed to drive the best price offer, cost increase avoidance, and price reductions by fact-based negotiation (Open BOM, sourcing practices on TIER I)- Actively influence the sourcing process during the development phase to supplier selection, price negotiation, commercial terms and conditions, and managing sourcing decision sheets- Lead and communicate cross functional initiatives and report progress to escalate situations to top management ensuring the teams are meeting targets**Skills, Knowledge and Expertise**:- 3+ years of experience in a sourcing role- Currently residing in Monterrey, Mexico- Experience in a Sourcing, Engineering, and manufacturing role within the furniture industry- Ability to identify structural concerns and value engineer the products.- Technical knowledge of case goods or upholstered furniture, compliance, and lean manufacturing- Ability to work with a high level of autonomy and build relationships while working virtually across the organization- Previous exposure to managing vendor relationships and negotiating- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills- Results oriented, proactive, persuasive, curious, and eager to learn- Spanish and English fluency**Benefits**:**We want Article to be an amazing place to work, beyond competitive compensation, we provide**:- A team-oriented work environment.
