With a 100-year legacy of quality and innovation and 150 locations in countries around the world, your impact spans the globe.**Job Summary**- Iron Casting Metallurgical & Process expert for the Drivetrain Component Design Team- Support Design Engineers in material selection and design for manufacturing on new part designs- Provide technical guidance and assessment in resolving metallurgical field failures and part quality issues.- Provide technical assessment of foundry selection and approve metallurgical validation for sourcing projects.New Part Design- Guiding mechanical design engineers in material and heat treat selection for new designs.- Review designs to ensure they are castable.Production Support- Setting technical direction to determine root cause and corrective actions for metallurgical design issues.- Guide investigation of casting quality issues and provide recommendations on design or process changes to resolve.Part Sourcing- Assessing part specific quality risk at the proposed supplier- Review the suppliers propose rigging and gating design to ensure part quality- Provide metallurgical technical support during part development- Review supplier and CAT internal metallurgical analysis results and determine conformance to prints and standards.- Review and approve metallurgical and casting related PPAP documents.**Education requirement**:- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science or Metallurgical Engineering- Advanced English level**Analytical Thinking**- Identifying the root cause of an issue and developing effective solutions.**Effective Communications**- Strong leadership and communication skills.**Managing Multiple Priorities**- Good multitask abilities.**Technical Excellence**- Proven experience working in iron casting foundries.- Advanced knowledge of relationships between manufacturing processes and metallurgical defects.**Product Design - Manufacturing**- Deep technical expertise and practical experience with gray and ductile iron castings.**Additional Information**:- This position will be located in Cienega de Flores- Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time, domestically and internationally- Relocation assistance is not available.**Final details****The Caterpillar Code of Conduct states that we will select, and place employees based on their qualifications for the job to be performed, without regard to race, religion, national origin, color, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or disability.
