About Mexico Finance ControlMexico Finance Control team is responsible for reporting commitments to the Mexican Banking Commission, the Mexican Central Bank, the Mexican Ministry of Finance, and the Mexican equivalent to the US FDIC (IPAB). Barclays Mexico has different legal entities which are regulated.We are an equal opportunity employer and we are opposed to discrimination on any grounds.Overall purpose of roleAs an AVP in the Finance Control team, the major functions of the job are:- Understanding the regulatory submissions, related to Capital Ratio (ICAP), FX Position, Liquidity, and Regulatory Limits. Escalating to the Legal Entity Controller and CFO any incidents and being able to take adequate decisions on how specific transactions should be reported.- Assessing statutory financial reporting requirements and communicating these to the financial reporting units in order to ensure consistency across Barclays.- Reviewing current processes and controls with the aim of streamlining them by leveraging off recent and future IT developments.Key Accountabilities- Liaising with operations and tax department to process the day to day activities related to accounting, regulatory, corporate, and financial reporting.- Performing reconciliation and balances reviews daily or monthly basis and working on closing any gaps by implementing controls or automations.- Ensuring that postings / entries in the general ledger are compliant with Mexican GAAP, IAS, and Group reporting requirements- Fully support the Financial Control team on daily and month-end closing process and reporting package for submission to Barclays Group and to support the preparation of Mexican regulatory reports to be delivered to CNBV and Central Bank.- Administration of accounting and accounts payable documentation.- Dealing with ad hoc queries from management, regulators, Barclays Group, internal and external auditors and financial reporting units.- Ad hoc projects, such as reporting and process reviews and systems development.- Support Product Control team on daily / monthly and quarterly activities such as:- Local vs Corporate valuation comparisons- Prepare weekly presentation to the Senior Management and Country Manager to communicate P&L analysis.Stakeholder Management and Leadership- Interact with internal and external auditors, local regulators authorities.- Interact closely with the PCG and TAX teams on BAU activities.- Mange work relationship with other infrastructure team such as Operations, Legal and Product Control in order to obtain data used for Finance matters.Decision-making and Problem SolvingEvaluative judgement and analytical skills are required to solve day to day and routinely activities with the support of the Head of Finance in Mexico for decision making activities such as regulatory interpretations, impact on regulatory limits and impact in the finance information.Risk and Control ObjectiveEnsure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.Person Specification- Expertise and clear understanding of Mexican regulatory requirements, specifically around FX Position, Liquidity, and Capital Management.- Experienced finance professional with excellent communication skills and a driving ambition to succeed.- He or she should operate well in a team but should also display individual independence. The person should have high energy levels with the ability to energize others and consistently deliver on their objectives. Confident, adaptable and possess initiative. Results oriented, organized, efficient and accurate.
