Java Senior Solution Architect

A Senior Solution Architect Contractor, you will be a key technical leader, responsible for the end-to‑end architectural design and technical oversight of solutions within our Menu, Recipe, and Inventory customer tools platform. You'll work closely with product owners, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to translate strategic objectives into scalable, resilient, and high‑performing technical solutions. Your expertise will be crucial in guiding the development teams, ensuring best practices, and driving the adoption of cloud‑native patterns within Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Responsibilities Architectural Leadership: Lead the architectural design, development, and evolution of complex, distributed systems for the Menu, Recipe, and Inventory customer tools platform. Technical Strategy & Roadmapping: Define and communicate technical strategies, architectural roadmaps, and best practices for Java, Kotlin, Angular, and Microservices‑based applications hosted on GCP. Solution Design & Documentation: Create comprehensive architectural documentation, including solution designs, data flow diagrams, API specifications, and integration patterns. Technical Guidance & Mentorship: Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to development teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation. Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with product management, business analysts, engineering teams, and other stakeholders to understand requirements, define solutions, and ensure alignment with business goals. Cloud‑Native Expertise: Leverage deep expertise in GCP services and cloud‑native architecture patterns to design highly scalable, reliable, and cost‑effective solutions. Performance & Scalability: Ensure designed solutions meet non‑functional requirements for performance, scalability, security, and maintainability. Technology Evaluation: Research and evaluate new technologies, tools, and frameworks to continuously improve the platform's technology stack. Code Review & Quality Assurance: Participate in code reviews and provide architectural oversight to ensure adherence to design principles and coding standards. Problem Solving: Act as a technical escalation point, troubleshooting complex issues and providing expert guidance for resolution. Agile Environment: Work effectively within an Agile/Scrum development methodology. Required Skills & Experience 10+ years of progressive experience in software development and architecture, with a strong focus on enterprise‑level applications. Proven expertise in Java development , including modern Java features and frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot). Strong proficiency in Kotlin for backend development. Extensive experience with Angular for front‑end web application development. Deep understanding and hands‑on experience with Microservices architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices. Demonstrable experience architecting and deploying solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) , including familiarity with services like Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud SQL, Cloud Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Functions. Experience with RESTful API design and development . Solid understanding of database design (SQL/NoSQL) and data modeling. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git). Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills , with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences. Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team. Desired Skills & Experience Experience with event‑driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, Google Cloud Pub/Sub). Knowledge of domain‑driven design (DDD) principles. Experience with observability tools (e.g., logging, monitoring, tracing). Prior experience in the foodservice or supply chain industry. Relevant GCP certifications (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect).
