POSITION SUMMARY The Product Cost Manager for Thermal BU provides the margin improvement strategy plan subject matter expertise and VAVE knowledge for the Custom Thermal projects and products. The Cost Manager works with the Thermal Strategy Director and Product Offering team to develop the VAVE and margin improvement strategy for the Americas region along with the EMEA Asia China and other global product leaders to support global execution through the product development process and program management process. The Cost Manager understands the market competitive landscape costing, billing, and commercial and technical details of the project/product. The Product Cost Manager works with the sales organizations to feed the various costing and pricing processes to drive to completion the Bid & Proposal phase as part of the NPDI. RESPONSIBILITIES By managing the VAVE and margin improvement projects this role will combine both product and cost guidance for Custom AHU products and markets. The combined role will have specific functions to develop expertise in both the technical and commercial details of the product line. This role will focus on: Proposal preparation including costing and pricing. Financial acumen including bookings sales standard gross margin (SGM) forecasting driving cost reductions and cash flow. Ensuring business stakeholders have a clear understanding of project costs and the elements of those costs including purchased material build and manufacturing costs. Ensuring product cost milestones targets are established throughout the various steps of the project. Driving cost reduction in NPDI products closely collaborating with Engineering Procurement Operations and Finance to position our products below that of our competition. Support new projects/products from customer input to proposal including engineering direction project management coordination pricing development SIOP input and VOC. Develop / harvest historical sales and margin data for analysis and KPIs of custom AHU projects markets and product data. Provide management information to Customers Sales Project Management and Application Engineering Work with the Thermal Strategy Director to align product direction with the full offering Portfolio/product roadmap. Support development of the roadmap and execute with the Product Offering Manager and cross functional team the execution of the plan in the Americas region. Support the Thermal BU Leader for custom marketing in developing business case(s) for new opportunities and capabilities needed to support the custom thermal business. Provide train the trainer content for the regional sales and deliver training to support new launches. Develop product collateral with support from cross functional teams to support new reference designs and sustaining product evolutions to include presentations product demos competitive comparisons product documentation and other sales enablement tools. Act as a sales escalation point for complex customer opportunities. Attend tradeshows visit customers meet with partners and LVOs to ensure an accurate voice of customer is heard in all product plans. Assist in championing resolution of offering issues (quality delivery cost capacity delivery). Other responsibilities as required to support the OM team and the Custom Thermal PL. QUALIFICATIONS Demonstrable experience in Engineering / Supply Chain or Manufacturing Operations and working with cross-functional teams to identify and execute on priority actions. Experience in analyzing and driving margin improvement in data reporting with Finance and IT systems. Oracle EBS is a plus. Ability to deliver effective presentations of findings and recommendations by creating visual summaries of quantitative cost information. Build and continually improve dashboards to provide insight. Must have demonstrable skills with Microsoft office applications particularly Excel. Smartsheet and Power BI experience beneficial. Experience in a global multi-cultural environment & comfortable working autonomously. Effectively communicates technical information and complex ideas. Exceptional operations finance and manufacturing understanding.
