Job Description

We are searching for a proactive Principal Strategic Program Manager to join our Corporate Program Management Office (CPMO) to lead transformation programs that align with Zendesk's business strategy.

The Principal Strategic Program Manager collaborates with leaders and teams across the company to drive transformation initiatives from conception to implementation. This involves partnering with leadership from Sales, Marketing, CX, Product, and G&A functions to ensure alignment and support for transformation goals. The role oversees the entire program lifecycle, from design and planning to delivery and operational excellence. It demands strong business acumen, strategic thinking, effective communication, interpersonal skills, and agile program management capabilities.

Your daily tasks include:

  • Take ownership of one or more transformation programs in collaboration with senior leadership, acting as a subject matter expert in various areas such as program structure, governance design, business case development, program delivery, organizational change management, and team facilitation.
  • Assist teams in translating corporate strategies into actionable program plans and governance models, then lead cross-functional execution teams to achieve their goals.
  • Establish cross-functional, cross-geo program teams and ensure their engagement for successful program execution. Facilitate clear communication across teams to meet deadlines and maintain awareness and action levels.
  • Provide data-backed guidance and recommendations to senior leadership for driving business outcomes.
  • Handle ongoing issue and risk management activities, identifying and resolving obstacles, objections, conflicts, and negotiations. Proactively manage risks.
  • Develop systems and processes to track and assess program success.
  • Oversee organizational change management activities as necessary.
  • Coordinate and contribute to the creation of reports, leadership and Board updates, and other program-related communications.
  • Promote a culture of openness and transparency to enhance program success chances.
  • Lead by influence to build trust across the organization.
  • Enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of program team members through sharing experiences and contributing to methodology improvement.

Your qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in delivering large-scale, complex programs, particularly in Sales, CX, and GTM domains.
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience as a Sr. Program Manager in a fast-paced SaaS environment or management consulting focusing on strategic programs and transformation efforts.
  • Experience working with operations teams and managing programs impacting large employee groups.
  • Proven ability to work across diverse teams and geographies.
  • Valuable business partner with skills in business operations, process design, data/analytics, and program management.
  • Strong collaboration, planning, influencing, prioritization, and time management abilities.
  • Capability to adapt approaches to meet Zendesk teams' needs and influence Corporate PMO best practices.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools, Smartsheet, and/or process mapping software a plus.
  • PMP and/or Prosci Change Management certifications are a plus.
