Associate Tax Director

Responsible for overseeing all Latin American countries where AIG operates, including managing the LATAM tax team, coordinating quarterly reporting cycles under US GAAP/IFRS, ensuring annual corporate tax compliance, and addressing tax queries and technical issues with support for business operations. This role entails frequent interaction with country and regional CFOs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively manage direct tax compliance process by ensuring accurate and timely submission of statutory tax returns in the region
  • Assist with quarterly US GAAP, statutory, and regulatory reporting, identifying opportunities for process improvements
  • Handle tax authority inquiries, audits, and collaborate with external advisors and in-house tax specialists
  • Work with the in-house tax planning group on transactions and internal restructuring
  • Build strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders to provide tax advice
  • Advise finance staff on technical tax matters, ensuring best practices are applied
  • Implement tax processes and manage transfer pricing obligations
  • Supervise direct tax reports, LATAM tax team, and workflow for tax deliverables

Key Capabilities:

  • Strong financial acumen with tax accounting experience
  • Bring best practices and policies to the organization
  • Flexible self-starter with strong organizational skills
  • Responsive to time pressure and able to meet deadlines
  • Effective at identifying and communicating relevant issues
  • Team player with management experience

Key Experience:

  • 5+ years of post-qualification experience in insurance/financial services
  • Experience in managing tax aspects of complex transactions
  • Proficiency in US GAAP tax reporting and IFRS
  • Fluency in Spanish and English
  • Qualified Chartered Accountant/Charted Tax Advisor
  • Experience negotiating with tax authorities and in a multinational environment
