At Jabil we strive to make ANYTHING POSSIBLE and EVERYTHING BETTER.With over 260,000 diverse, talented and dedicated employees across 100 locations in 30 countries, our vision is to be the most technologically advanced and trusted manufacturing solutions provider.We combine an unmatched breadth and depth of end-market experience, technical and design capabilities, manufacturing know-how, supply chain insights and global product management expertise to enable success for the world's leading brands.We are driven by a common purpose to make a positive impact for each other, our communities, and the environment.JOB SUMMARYThe Product Development Engineer provides technical leadership and expertise in product design and development (areas may include drug delivery, diagnostic devices, etc).This role applies creativity, technical skills, sound engineering principles, and best practices to design and manufacturing challenges; will see the device through the product lifecycle from concept and specification development to detailed engineering, testing, and risk management.This individual works effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional team environment, is self-directed, and will focus on customer success, device excellence, and program results.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Ensures the device meets technical requirements (function, performance, safety)- Designs and develops complex consumable devices (may include medical, drug delivery and diagnostic devices)- Responsible for creating and managing the device engineering specifications, including 3D CAD data, part and assembly prints, BOM's, materials, sourced components, critical dimensions, etc.- Creates presentations and drawings to communicate and document solutions, design rationale, and recommendations.- Conducts structural and tolerance analysis, as well as statistical analysis- Responsible for supplier management- Contributes to defining engineering verification and design verification plans- Contributes to design risk management activity, primarily DFMEAs.- Leads issue resolution activity through effective root cause analysis, solution mapping and assessment, and effective corrective action.- Contributes to device requirements management, including identifying technical requirements, an ability to identify gaps and missing information, and the timely evolution of requirements.- Contributes to project scheduling and budgeting- Represents department on cross-functional product development teams.- Fulfills all requirements applicable to Product Development Engineer responsibilities within the Quality Management System.- Some domestic travel required- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.JOB QUALIFICATIONSKNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS- Experienced evaluating and testing devices/product to ensure requirements have been met.- Strong working knowledge of engineering principles- Proficient at SolidWorks CAD (PTC Creo a plus)- Strong analytical reasoning with an ability to influence key decisions based on technical judgment- Experience working within a Quality Management System (ISO *****) and addressing regulatory requirements (21 CFR ******)- Excellent communicator with documentation writing skills; clear and concise using objective evidence and language.- Reliable, organized, and consistently delivering to a high standard.- Great attitude, self-driven, and willing to learn and adapt to program challenges and customer requirements.- Demonstrated utilization of Design for Six Sigma, Design for Manufacture/Assembly and Design for Test methodologies highly desirable, ideally, with injection molding processes and materials.- Ideally, able to conduct FEA of structural and thermal performanceJabil, including its subsidiaries, is an equal opportunity employer and considers qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identify, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
