Engineer III – Corning Incorporated Corning is a leading innovator in glass, ceramic, and materials science, pushing the boundaries of technology from the ocean depths to space. As part of our Optical Communications segment, we provide industry‑leading solutions across carrier and enterprise networks. Role Purpose The Senior DT Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and support of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) within our organization, optimizing manufacturing processes through digital solutions and integrating MES with other enterprise systems (ERP, SCADA, etc.). Key Responsibilities Lead installation, configuration, and support of IT/OT devices (PCs, tablets, HMIs, printers, scanners, industrial devices). Coordinate with infrastructure and network teams to support connectivity, industrial WiFi, switches, and production‑critical services. Manage incidents, requests, and changes in MES and SAP systems. Map and document manufacturing and inventory processes, proposing functional improvements. Identify and digitize manual or inefficient processes (web forms, digital workflows). Design, develop, and maintain internal web applications for data capture and KPI tracking. Build Power BI dashboards and integrate data from MES, SAP, SCADA and other sources. Define and execute advanced analytics / AI / machine learning cases (failure prediction, scrap, demand forecasting, process anomaly detection). Support and mentor junior engineers. Ensure best practices in documentation, testing, production deployment, and post‑implementation support. Collaborate closely with cross‑functional roles (Production, Maintenance, Logistics, Quality). Align digital solutions with plant and business objectives. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics, Computer Science, or related field. 5+ years of experience in IT/systems roles within manufacturing or logistics environments. Experience in MES and/or SAP support or operation in production and inventory processes. Proven process digitalization experience (eliminating paper/Excel, automating workflows, system integration). Experience developing internal web applications (stack such as .NET, Java, Python, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript). Experience with Power BI (data modeling, KPI creation, dashboards). Experience applying data analytics and machine learning in industrial contexts. Preferred Qualifications Courses or certifications in SAP (MM, WM, EWM, PP) or MES platforms. Certifications in Power BI, data analytics, or cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP). Certifications in continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma) or IT service management (ITIL).
