Job Description

  • Develop, maintain, and improve cost accounting procedures, controls, and documentation.
  • Manage day-to-day activities related to standard costing, inventory accounting, manufacturing cost analysis, and month-end close activities.
  • Prepare and analyze weekly, monthly, and quarterly cost reports, including variance analysis versus budget and forecast.
  • Provide financial insights and cost-related metrics to support business operations and decision-making.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis related to product costs, manufacturing performance, and cost trends.
  • Lead annual standard cost updates and cost roll processes across manufacturing operations.
  • Partner with Finance and Operations teams to develop labor and overhead rates.
  • Coordinate standard costing activities, timelines, and deliverables across multiple manufacturing locations.
  • Monitor compliance with cost accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Analyze inventory and manufacturing cost metrics to identify risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial closing activities related to inventory, manufacturing expenses, and cost variances.
  • Review and validate Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, labor standards, and overhead allocations.
  • Support inventory control processes, including cycle counts, inventory classifications, and excess and obsolete inventory analysis.
  • Collaborate closely with FP&A, Accounting, Operations, and IT teams to improve processes, reporting, and system effectiveness.
  • Participate in system implementations, process improvement initiatives, and automation projects related to costing and financial reporting.
  • Promote continuous improvement, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration.

The Successful Applicant

A Successful Cost Accounting Manager Should Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in Cost Accounting or Manufacturing Finance, with a strong background in standard costing.
  • Solid understanding of inventory accounting, manufacturing cost analysis, and financial controls.
  • Experience working with ERP systems; SAP experience is preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
