The Font Specialist is responsible of managing typefaces for in-vehicle, mobile, web displays and more.This includes overseeing logistics, technical aspects, and the delivery of the typography across all vehicles and projects.Digital screens, such as touch displays, clusters, and HUDs in the Ford and Lincoln vehicles, are becoming increasingly important.They play a crucial role in delivering valuable information and enhancing the driving experience for users.As the demand for safety and effective vehicle-driver communication grows, Human Machine Interaction (HMI) becomes a key focus area for our company.Our team is continually challenged to integrate new technologies and develop top-notch interfaces and interactions as we introduce new content and Driver Assistance features.**What you'll need**- C1-C2 English level with strong skills in oral, reading, writing, and listening.- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Digital Design, or related.- 3+ years of experience in Typography, including font management processes and working with foundries.- Management of font tasks, quality assurance, and integration into software development.- Proficiency in Typography and Design tools such as Roböfont, Glyphs, Fontlab, Figma, etc.- Proven ability to work in a cross-functional/global role, interacting with teams in different countries and organizations.- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, with the ability to present to high levels of management.- Strong organizational, time-management, and project/product management skills, preferably Agile.- Team-building skills, capable of negotiating and proposing new solutions while understanding team experiences.**DISCLAIMER**Ford Motor Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer, as we are committed with a diverse workforce, and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, status as a veteran and basis of disability.**What you'll do**- Fonts Management System content support.- File implementation issues management.- Manage the release of fonts and the documentation of assessments related to font delivery in alignment with Ford Program development milestones.- Fonts cases analysis.- Bug test cases and reports.- AFF spec updates.- Fonts calendar plan.- Programs timeline:- Font's newsletter/communication design and delivery.- Typographic consultant for other Ford and Lincoln projects.- Management of the development of fonts for texts and digits in digital display vehicle components that better fit local market requirements.- Support of the procurement of external services to carry out new font developments and font maintenance work.- Definition of requirements and rules for the description of typographies for the different display catalogs that meets ergonomics, legibility, and other requirements.- Collaboration with the Design DNA team to identify trade-offs and guide designers to incorporate local language considerations in design.- Support of Hardware and Software Prototyping of HMI concepts with fonts and support associated customer clinics.- Ensure process discipline across the global organization on the fonts workstreams- Lead the exploration and implementation of new technologies and tools to identify areas of opportunity to reduce time, increase consistency, and improve font delivery and quality.
