**PROJECT EHS COORDINATOR**
- Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico
- Starting in early December 2023
- 6 months with good possibility of extension

**OVERVIEW**:
A major industrial client is seeking an experienced EHS coordinator to support their plant expansion. In this role, you will assist the project team to monitor and control the safety, environmental, and health aspects of contractor activities on site. A minimum of 3 years of managing safe work practices in an industrial construction or manufacturing environment are required. Strong leadership, teamwork, and communications are a must.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Bachelor’s or associate degree in an environmental and/or safety discipline, engineering, or technical science (e.g., chemistry, biology), AND/OR professional safety certification (e.g. Certified Safety Professional; Certified Hazardous Materials Manager; Qualified Environmental Professional or equivalent)
- 3+ years of managing safe work practices in an industrial construction or manufacturing environment (as a Safety Specialist, Safety Manager, or the like)
- Thorough understanding of industrial environmental and safe work practices (OSHA requirements, high work, hot work, LOTO, PPE, hygiene monitoring and control, behavioral safety, ergonomics, work plans, audits, JSAs/risk assessments, incident reports, corrective actions, etc.)
- Good leadership skills, strong ability to gain the respect and cooperation of others
- Good communication skills, ability to conduct meetings, write clear plans and reports and effectively communicate to others

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Track and drive contractor safety performance on site - promote safe work practices and mentor the team to achieve the target of zero incidents.
- Review and sign-off on contractor daily work permits (high work, hot work permits, etc.).
- Conduct daily safety and housekeeping walks to monitor contractor performance and identify risks - work with contractors to mitigate risks and prevent incidents before they happen.
- Help to coordinate site activities between the plant team, project team, and contractors.
- Review and sign-off on contractor JSAs, incident reports, corrective actions, etc.
- Lead safety talks and meetings.
- Conduct safety inductions for new project personnel and visitors.
- Help to familiarize contractors and project team members with the requirements of the client safety manual.
- Collect and report on contractor safety metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Prepare visual aids and work instructions for the job site.
- Enforce disciplinary actions for worksite safety violations.
- Investigate near misses and accidents. Work with others to identify root causes and corrective actions. Track completion of corrective actions by responsible parties.
- Work effectively with others and foster positive relationships inside and outside the team.
- Working time is expected to average 5-1/2 days per week, with occasional Sunday or holiday work during plant shutdowns.

Un importante cliente industrial busca un coordinador de EHS con experiência para respaldar la expansión de su planta. En esta función, ayudará al equipo del proyecto a monitorear y controlar los aspectos de seguridad, medio ambiente y salud de las actividades del contratista en el sitio. Se requiere un mínimo de 3 años de gestión de prácticas laborales seguras en un entorno de construcción o fabricación industrial. Un fuerte liderazgo, trabajo en equipo y comunicación son imprescindibles.

**CALIFICACIONES**:

- Licenciatura o título asociado en una disciplina ambiental y/o de seguridad, ingeniería o ciencias técnicas (p. ej., química, biología), Y/O certificación de seguridad profesional (p. ej., Profesional certificado en seguridad; Gerente certificado de materiales peligrosos; Profesional ambiental calificado o equivalente)
- Más de 3 años de gestión de prácticas laborales seguras en un entorno de construcción o fabricación industrial (como especialista en seguridad, gerente de seguridad o similar)
- Comprensión profunda de las prácticas laborales seguras y ambientales industriales (requisitos de OSHA, trabajo en altura, trabajo en caliente, LOTO, PPE, monitoreo y control de higiene, seguridad conductual, ergonomía, planes de trabajo, auditorías, JSA/evaluaciones de riesgos, informes de incidentes, acciones correctivas, etc.)
- Buenas habilidades de liderazgo, gran capacidad para ganarse el respeto y la cooperación de los demás.
- Buenas habilidades de comunicación, capacidad para realizar reuniones, redactar planes e informes claros y comunicarse eficazmente con los demás.
