This Backend Software Engineer role is a critical part of our team, responsible for developing and maintaining the core systems and infrastructure that power our data science applications.

You will work closely with other engineers, data scientists, risk/fraud analysts, and product managers to build robust APIs, develop efficient backend services, and support machine learning serving initiatives.

Your work will be instrumental in creating and maintaining scalable solutions that handle hundreds of millions of transactions per month, ensuring high performance and reliability with a focus on data as a principle.

Responsibilities

  1. API Development: Collaborate with global teams to deliver world-class data science products to international markets, including decisioning APIs and external integrations for real-time data consumption.
  2. API Ownership: Own the lifecycle of APIs, from design to deployment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  3. Data Integration: Drive the integration with 3rd parties and other internal sources of data for enrichment and machine learning inference.
  4. Data Handling: Work with a data-driven mindset and understand the critical importance of handling data properly and safely.
  5. Code Organization: Organize frameworks and develop processes in our codebase to ensure a cleanly structured coding style.
  6. Mentorship: Mentor other engineers and data scientists about best practices in engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a software engineer, data engineer, or a closely related position with a proven track record of developing and maintaining APIs and backend systems.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • High proficiency in Python and a strong understanding of its related libraries and frameworks.
  • Strong background in API development and integration, particularly focused on managing large volumes of data.
  • Experience with API documentation tools.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud providers and related data services.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with constant requirement changes.
